Every week, Billboard magazine releases its Hot 100 chart featuring the names of the best performing tracks. The list is compiled using data from sales, YouTube and Spotify streams, and radio plays. The chart is a useful indicator of which artists’ music is being streamed by listeners the most.
Here is a list of the Billboard Global Hot Number Ones of 2022.
1. “All I Want For Christmas Is You”
For the first week of the year, Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You” retained the top spot on the Billboard Global Hot Number Ones chart. Originally released as part of her fourth studio album and her first-holiday album in 1994, the song is still a favorite holiday tune for many Americans, especially around Christmas time. So it’s understandable that it peaked on the charts at the start of the year when holiday fever was still high!
2. “Easy On Me”
“Easy On Me” by English singer and songwriter Adele was first released on October 15, 2021 as the lead single from her fourth studio album, 30. The song dominated the airwaves for two straight weeks, from January 15 to January 29.
3. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”
This song was featured in Disney’s animated movie Encanto. Actor, singer, and songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda composed the song and wrote the lyrics. The song remained the Billboard Global Hot Number One for four consecutive weeks, from February 5 to March 5.
4. “Heat Waves”
The song “Heat Waves’ by the English group Glass Animals is a single from their third studio album titled Dreamland. The song performed exceptionally well with audiences, becoming the Billboard Global Hot Number One from 5th to 12th March.
