Avril Lavigne’s battle with Lyme disease
Turns out, the singer disappeared from the music scene because she was privately battling Lyme disease, a condition that reportedly made Lavigne feel like she “was drowning” and left her bedridden for two years. Her sixth studio album, Head Above Water, released in 2019, was about her medical journey.
Called ‘punk’s princess’ for her eclectic style, multi-colored hair, and bold, black eyeliner that she rocked so effortlessly in each music video, Lavigne was one of the 2000’s best-known faces. Her songs were featured in hit movies like Sweet Home Alabama (2002), Legally Blonde 2 (2003), The Princess Diaries 2 (2004), and Bruce Almighty (2003).
Comeback in 2019 and release of Love Sux
In 2019, the singer-songwriter returned to music-making with her sixth studio album, Head Above Water. The album featured songs like “Warrior,” which describes Lavigne’s battle with Lyme disease and how she survived. According to Lavigne, the album’s name was inspired by her plea to God to help her “keep her head above water” on a particularly dark day when she thought she wasn’t going to make it.
Her latest album, Love Sux, was released on 25th February 2022. Fans of Avril Lavigne can listen to the singer’s latest tracks in collaboration with artists like Machine Gun Kelly, Blackbear, and Mark Hoppus of Blink-182.
