Everything You Need to Know About Selena Gomez's New Album
Despite the scare the superstar gave us in her Vogue cover story in April, Selena also hinted that there might be one more album left to release. The former-Disney star and cultural icon's new album will come as a follow-up to her January 2020 album titled "Rare" and March 2021 Spanish EP "Revelación."
If you're just as excited about the new Selena album as we are, here are all the juicy deets you need to know about the album.
The Instagram Story and Vogue Interview
In May 2021, Selena posted an Instagram story of her wearing a bracelet with "SG3" written on it. The story sent her loyal fanbase in a state of euphoric excitement for the new album from the queen herself. This tease couldn't have come at a better time when it was right after her Vogue cover story in April 2021.
During this interview with Vogue, Selena got real about possibly quitting music in the future. During the conversation, the singer admitted that she's found it hard making music when "people don't take you seriously" and that she has seriously thought about quitting. Well, that has definitely hurt our Selenator hearts!
However, it's not all doom-and-gloom; she also continued with a hint that she wants to release one more album for her fans.
What's the New Selena Record Going to Sound Like?
The details are pretty under wraps, so there isn't much that we know for sure. However, there's enough evidence to believe that Selena may incorporate more Spanish songs and reggaeton beats in her new album.
Despite her saying she might quit, Selena released Revelación in April this year. In this Spanish EP, she worked with the uber-talented Puerto Rican producer, Marco "Tainy" Masis, who also teamed with pop stars like Dua Lipa and other Latin artists. Selena brought these worlds together and produced music; we are excited to hear more from her!
In January, she also sat down with Zane Lowe on Apple Music to admit that she wanted to do a Spanish project for a long time. She also added that she enjoyed singing in Spanish and admitted that she sings better in Spanish.
Are There Going to Be Any Collaborations?
At this point, it's all speculation. We have seen the artist feature many talented artists on her recent albums like Kid Cudi and 6ack in "Rare." Similarly, Revelación featured artists like DJ Snake, Myke Towers, and Rauw Alejandro.
We're expecting Selena to collaborate with more Latin artists in "SG3" likeCamilo.
Further Music Teasers
After the Instagram story, Selena once again teased fans in an August 2021 interview, where she admitted to working on a new album.
At the end of August, Selena also released her music video for the song "999," which features Columbian artist Camilo.
