When TDWP make ZIII and put the bass higher in the mix I might eventually be satisfied, but TDWP’s next tour is sure to be a treat.
-
Distorted Sound Magazine
This is less of a throwback, and more of a return to the ring for one of best to ever burst from the modern metalcore bubble. Where the band go next is anyone’s guess. Regardless, it’s the most exciting THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA have felt in a decade.
-
Wall of Sound
This is not only a new era of the Zombie series but also a new era for The Devil Wears Prada. They have managed to revisit an old release and give it a high-quality sequel that not only follows on from Zombie I but also incorporates the band’s development as well as the genre’s evolution. There will always be those who diss every release, but I for one find this to be a fitting sequel that maintains the value the original EP’s music holds.
-
Invicta Magazine
A more mature release from the Ohio metalcore outfit, The Devil Wears Prada have really honed their sound and come back with a vengeance in this immersive companion to ZI, showcasing just why they have been mainstays in the metalcore scene for so long.
-
New Transcendence
ZII is diverse—simultaneously nostalgic yet new—and thoroughly immersive, giving the listener a heavy, hectic and ear-gripping sequel that has been in high demand for over a decade.
-
mxdwn Music
ZII EP may only have five songs, but the musical content is wonderful. The Devil Wears Prada has grown as a band, and their music keeps getting better.
-
Kill Your Stereo
What comes after ‘ZII’ will likely sound very different, but right now, they’ve seen fit to return to an old zombie narrative and sever some heads to the brutal, moshing metalcore of yesteryear. Watch out; this one fucking bites.
-
Cryptic Rock
It’s definitely hard to revisit a muse that sparked your creativity over a decade ago, though with the ZII EP the sextet builds on what they unleashed in the original EP and offers fans a truly epic sequel.
-
Rock 'N' Load
ZII is outright fantastic. Managing to blend elements of what made the Zombie EP so special to so many people, while also sounding completely fresh. Not only does the EP portray the band’s phenomenal growth as musicians, it successfully ushers in a new, matured sound for TDWP. If you want unrelenting heaviness, ZII is a must-hear.

Noizze
Overall, Zombie II feels like the sequel that Zombie needed. A more mournful yet terrifying scene is planted into your mind. After the chaos died down and the dust settled, we now know the outcome of these survivors through the medium of haunting melody and beefy breakdowns.
-
Heavy Magazine
There’s nothing like a melody that works over a catchy chord progression as well as playing against nothing but the tonic. But really, every track is an absolute gem. I can see why The Devil Wears Prada are leaders of their peers.

All Music
Their first release with new bassist Mason Nagy, the five-track set is as punishing and melodic as one would expect from the band, with themes of hopelessness and turmoil mirroring real world events that influenced the band during recording. From the machine gun drums on "Forlorn" to the crushing riffs on "Nightfall," this is an ideal soundtrack to the apocalypse.

Fantastic stuff from a fantastic band. It’s a worthy successor to a beloved EP and it’s exciting to see where the band stands in 2021.
-
Dead Press
A bold move for the group, ‘Zombie II’ dives into the heavier side of The Devil Wears Prada with impressive results, as the sextet continue to explore their sound and capabilities on their own terms.

Upside Down Shark
To wrap up, ZII is a worthy success to the iconic Zombie EP. I don’t think it’s fair to classify it as better or worse, as the original has a decade’s worth of nostalgia in its favour, and it’s hard to ignore that emotional connection. With that being said, I’m confident this new release will be considered with the same reverence before too long, and I hope this isn’t the final chapter in the Zombie series.
