Yellow Submarine

Yellow Submarine is the tenth studio album by English rock band the Beatles, released on 13 January 1969 in the United States and on 17 January 1969 in the United Kingdom. It was issued as the soundtrack to the animated film of the same name, which premiered in London in July 1968. The album contains six songs by the Beatles, including four new songs and the previously released "Yellow Submarine" and "All You Need Is Love". The remainder of the album is a re-recording of the film's orchestral soundtrack by the band's producer, George Martin.-Wikipedia

  • Pitchfork

2009 - As a souvenir of the film, Yellow Submarine has its place, and in fairness, it was never intended as a major release. But as an album it's ultimately forgettable, which is something the Beatles so rarely were otherwise.

What is here, however, is a good enough reason for owning the record, though nothing rates it as anything near a high-priority purchase.

2009 - as a whole, Yellow Submarine is a delightful album, even if it’s still a less-than-acceptable inclusion in the Beatles canon

1999 - Without the visuals, Yellow Submarine Songtrack essentially amounts to an overview of the Beatles’ psychedelic phase, and, as such, it’s entertaining enough, if somewhat arbitrary.

This is the least essential album in any Beatles’ collection, but worth a listen on Youtube.

1999 - All 15 songs featured in the film, ... have been remixed to new brilliance. Paul McCartney’s bass, Ringo Starr’s deft drumming and all four voices appear with such clarity you’ll think the lads are gathered in your sunken living room.

This is just another in a series of shameless plans to rob Beatles fans of their money.

features only FOUR previously unreleased Beatles songs. The rest of the thang is slopped up with a couple of old Beatles classics and a whole goddamned side of George Martin's classical music crap.

A major ripoff. Only six Beatles tracks, two of them are recycled from earlier records (title track; "All You Need Is Love"), and the entire second side consists of assorted George Martin elevator music
