X (INXS album)
| INXSX (INXS album)
X is Australian rock band INXS’s seventh studio album, released on 25 September 1990. The follow-up to the massive seller Kick, X scored hits with “Suicide Blonde” and “Disappear” (both Top 10 in the US).Two other singles from X were “Bitter Tears” and “By My Side” but they had less chart success. A fifth single, “The Stairs” was only issued in the Netherlands to coincide with the release of the Live Baby Live album. It was the third consecutive INXS album produced by Chris Thomas.-Wikipedia

Stereogum
X suffers from being front-loaded, and from quite blatantly attempting to replicate the success of KICK almost by numbers.

AllMusic
In the finish, the overwhelming lack of subtlety and sense of sameness overcomes the album as a whole. It's not that's it's a bad album. It's just nowhere near as good as it could -- and should -- have been.

And it’s not fair. X from INXS is an album that is all-too often overlooked. And that’s simply not right. It was, is, and will forever be a Classic Album by an iconic band.

Daily Vault
. . . this might be one of INXS's least appreciated albums. In fact, this could be the one INXS album that is worth dusting off and rediscovering in between bowl games today.

I'm still formulating my opinion of this record. Despite not selling quite so strongly, it scored another pile of major hit singles. They're mostly good: . . . . (JA)
