Show All-
Pitchfork
There are moments where the contrast between sodden and sprightly lands nicely. Future and Juice WRLD are acutely melodic and instinctive hook writers and, when they evenly divide the labors of songcraft, the results are pretty damn good.
-
Consequence of Sound
Despite the disappointing features, disconnected lyrical exchanges, and multiple fillers, a handful of songs on WRLD ON DRUGS prove that the duo can present a better effort together.
-
DJ Booth
WRLD ON DRUGS provides a high, just not as high as the creators claim to be.
-
Hot New Hip Hop
As inspiring as it is to see Future big-up promising youngsters and Juice WRLD getting the chance to collaborate with his high school hero, they'd be better served by picking on someone their own size for their next collaborative release.
-
Now Toronto
Sounds more like an attempt at capitalizing on the artists’ fame than the masterpiece it could’ve been
-
The Edge
Some people will like the vibe of WRLD On Drugs, but it remains a surprisingly bland project from Future & Juice Wrld. Both artists can do much better.
-
XXL Magazine
The result is an album full of amazing melodies and earworm production that buckles under the weight of its subject matter.
-
Thirst Key
"WRLD On Drugs" isn't a heavy-hitting disappointment, but it's not what it could've been. Juice WRLD came out of this winning a lot more than Future did, which was probably the intent.
-
High Snobiety
For now, Future and Juice WRLD have given listeners an inspired glimpse of what could be a promising partnership– if they so wish to continue.
-
The Hoya
Future sounds sleepy and bored when paired with Juice WRLD, whose cringe-inducing lyrical moments make the project a difficult listen.
-
The Ratings Game
It takes some time to truly understand this album, but once you do, I believe it’s quite a listen. No, the content isn’t the best thing since sliced bread, but I think the trends that both rappers and their producers are able to create is different than anything you heard this year.
-
The Parrot
The album doesn’t have nearly enough memorable material for its length, and the good production can’t carry the weight of the rest of the album being so uninspired.
-
The Herald on the Hill
The lyrics are very different throughout the album, creating no main theme, but the lyrics in their respective songs flow well.
-
UPROXX
Wrld On Drugs would be a fun, inconsequential collector’s item on its own, but some wounds are still too raw and unfortunately, Future and Juice Wrld are way too good at rubbing them exactly the wrong way.
-
Penn State College of Communications
an interesting installment for both artist into their catalogues. Juice WRLD shows a wider range than he did on his debut, and Future continues to attempt to devolve into his mental state.
-
The Daily Night Hawk
The album unfolds showing Future’s knowledge and experiences with aggressive drug epidemics in the 80’s and 90’s and with Juice WRLD, age 19, we see him expressing his exposure to the new rap era of drug users who openly express their addictions of recreational drugs.
-
FHHS Day
Overall, the Juice WRLD and Future crossover album was marginal. There were a few catchy hits throughout the album, such as “Make it Back”, “Hard Work Pays Off”, “Fine China”, and “Astronauts”. Besides that however, the rest of the songs were average.
-
Boston College Heights
There are clear standouts with a lot of replay value, and that’s all fans of Future and Juice WRLD can ask for sometimes.
-
Evil Media
it does make for a good listen, and there are songs for both fan bases
-
Michigan Daily
WRLD ON DRUGS, the latest innocuous rap collaboration album, follows its predecessors: interesting in theory, fun on first listen but expectedly reductive.
-
Pizza FM
The features are ambitious but underwhelming but the beats are as top notch as usual. This tape leaves us with an important aphorism to apply to hip hop: features and beats make an album interesting, but only artistic vision can make it great.
-
The Observer
While “WRLD ON DRUGS” was nothing quite special, its component artists are worth much more apart than forced haphazardly into this spur-of-the-moment collaboration.
-
The Nicholls Worth
A must-listen album between two rappers who surprisingly display amazing musical chemistry.
-
Noise Comply
Overall this album is a mixed bag with more misses than hits.
-
The Mirror
There are tracks were Future and Juice Wrld are both pulling their weight and making their own personal styles sound good together.
-
DU Clarion
it is high quality and admirable work
