Wonderful Crazy Night
| Elton JohnWonderful Crazy Night
Wonderful Crazy Night is the thirtieth studio album by British singer-songwriter Elton John. It was released on 5 February 2016. It is John's first album since 2006's The Captain & the Kid to feature the Elton John Band, and was written and recorded in 17 days. John's long-standing percussionist, Ray Cooper, makes his first appearance on any of John's albums since Made in England in 1995. This is Kim Bullard's first appearance on keyboards replacing Guy Babylon, and Matt Bissonette replacing Bob Birch on bass. -Wikipedia

Drowned in Sound
Indeed this is perhaps a glimpse at the reason for Elton John’s success: even when he’s putting out fluff like this, he does it well enough to make it likeable.
-
All Music
Wonderful Crazy Night never lingers in the imagination -- there are no hooks to pull a listener back in for another spin -- but it sounds just fine as it plays.
-
Entertainment Weekly
Nearly five decades after he revolutionized what it means to be a rock star, John’s boundary-pushing days may be long gone, but the sun hasn’t gone down on him just yet.

The Upcoming
Wonderful Crazy Night may not be the record to boost your catalogue, nor transcend popular music of today. Nevertheless, despite it lacking a standout track that should headline the record, the album carries a timeless appeal and authenticity that would comfort many Elton John enthusiasts.
-
Record Collector Mag
A couple of duds: No Monsters telegraphs its Lennon-esque references, while England & America is pointless dad-rock. Everything else works.

Elton John revisits '70s sound on buoyant new album.

Easily Elton’s most disappointing album since the ‘90s.

At 68, Sir Elton still has a powerful engine.
-
The Michigan Daily
Elton John's latest is lackadaisical at best.
-
Speaker TV
Despite being more ‘wonderful’ as opposed to ‘crazy’, Elton’s latest effort is still a pleasurable listen.
-
Gigslutz
With Elton nearing 70 he still delivers a telling vocal, and with his prowess on the piano impeccable it is hard to find fault with the tracks on offer.
-
Louder Sound
Elton’s late-period purple patch continues.
-
RTE
While there's far more here for the faithful than any Tumbleweed Connection blow-in, the latter will have no indigestion when they hear this in someone's back garden in June.
-
The Scotsman
Whatever new horizons await the band, they are not evident here.
-
Just Listen to This
A reassertion of class and craft, to these ears.
-
J.S. Online
There may be no greatest hits here. But the fact that John is still making songs this good on this, his 33rd studio album, is pretty wonderful.
-
Times of India
Deep and meaningful, yet irreverent and funky at the same time.
-
Trib Live
“Wonderful Crazy Night” may not be as colorful as its cover, but it’s a lively, classy effort.

Wonderful Crazy Night is the sort of upbeat rock ’n’ roll extravaganza its title suggests, fueled by fierce guitar and piano motifs.
