Rolling Stone
2001 - Cream is good at a number of things; unfortunately song-writing and recording are not among them. However, they are fantastic performers and excellent musicians. Their latest recording, Wheels of Fire, a two-record set inside a silver jacket, proves all this.

All Music
in many ways Wheels of Fire is indeed filled with Cream's very best work, since it also captures the fury and invention (and indulgence) of the band at its peak on the stage and in the studio
-
BBC
2007 - The arrangements are stunning throughout – from folk to metal with instrumentation such as cello and recorder.
-
Ultimate Classic Rock
2013 - 'Wheels of Fire' displays Cream at their peak, as both a recording unit (the studio songs are the band's most focused and confident) and as a live act. It's excessive, sure. But the statements it makes are never anything but grand.

Absolute Knave
2012 - an epic by any standard, a great album by any reasonable standard
-
Alt Rock Chick
2013 - It’s an incredibly diverse and exciting album full of surprising and sometimes eccentric twists.
-
7th Level Music
The live portion of the album is alone worth the purchase price. The psychedelic rock on the studio album is a great bonus.
-
Only Solitaire
A little over the top, what with all those fifteen minute jams and all, but still - similar in tone and mood.
-
Wilson & Alroy's Record Reviews
With sharp, blues-drenched guitar solos littering the album, it's a must-have for students of acid rock despite its problems.
-
John McFerrin Music Reviews
the studio album is fantastic
-
Oocities
Wheels Of Fire (the band's bluesiest and arguably most experimental album) provides the most all-encompassing look at what Cream was really like, in all their glory and with all their faults
