Ke$ha crafted Warrior as her rock manifesto. As she confesses here, “I know I’m not perfect/I know I got issues/I know that I got a sordid past/And yeah, some bad tattoos.”

In Warrior, Ke$ha realizes her true potential as a pop artist, with her raw combination of discreet hip hop, a heavy infusion of contemporary synth, and the inversion of 80's cock rock, achieving one of the greatest pop albums of the modern era.

Kesha has knack for making incredibly catchy title tracks, and Warrior is no different. While the "War-e-er-e-er-e-er" hook is strangely irritating, and the break down slows the fast paced energy, her rapping is actually pretty good and the verses carry a lot of energy.

Of course, writing quality tunes is the best revenge on any haters. And although Warrior has no shortage of modern techno-pop songs espousing endless love and/or long, magical nights (“Wherever You Are,” “Die Young,” “C’Mon”), the album takes some bold musical risks.

Having sold 3m copies of her 2010 debut album, Animal, self-styled bad girl Kesha Sebert has decided not to fix what ain't broke. Warrior is basically the same product as Animal but with added effing and blinding.

Warrior was co-written and co-produced by longtime collaborator Dr. Luke, who also helmed Katy Perry’s smash Teenage Dream, and you can hear strong echoes of that record here.

It's undeniably batshit insane, but Warrior is never dull, always fun, and frequently a thrillingly unpredictable ride.

Ke$ha might be one of the easiest pop stars to mock in history, but with Warrior's surprising detours, Iggy Pop cameos, and Wayne Coyne collaborations prove, Ke$ha is a very smart girl who knows exactly when and how to deviate from her image, resulting in some remarkably good pop music (no, really).

Kesha's new album, Warrior (out this week; listen below), is essentially a vast extension of the same obsession with hedonism. In its title track, it even makes an attempt to convert being drunk into something like a vision of life.

It's easy to think of the 'Warrior' tracks in terms of more mature versions of her previous work, because that's essentially how the album comes together -- in the best way.

But taken as a whole, this is another surprisingly enjoyable album from a pop singer who has managed to broaden her approach without losing her USP.

She continues to fight for the right to party throughout Warrior, though it's done so with more heed than most would give her credit for.

But “Warrior” is much closer to her intended goal than her previous releases: a trashy pop circus that delivers in both songwriting chops and in emotional, visceral vocal braggadocio.

Warrior is likable enough, but not only can’t it match its predecessor, it’s not nearly as exhilarating or disruptive as what fellow slizzered California trashdancer Dev or assorted K-poppers have done in the past two years with basically the same raw materials.
