  • Sonic Perspectives

Some songs on here shine a tad more brightly than others, with s special highlight being the thrashing riff monster “Forever Falling” which provides a dark blend of Metallica and Soundgarden influences that no metal fan could pass up, and the entire package being offered up here is a solid one that is sure to play well to a wide audience, and hopefully give the present day purveyors of bubble gum pop fluff a run for their money in album sales.

If suspicions were beginning to brew that Alter Bridge had become a formulaic outfit, these speculations meet their end with this synth-based, modern rock classic that explores some new and exciting heavier territories for the band. Ambitious, adventurous and unmistakably alive, ‘Walk The Sky’ might well redefine what quintessential Alter Bridge sounds like.

There is an argument to be made that a more varied pace might have made the overall feel of the album slightly less uniform. But in terms of producing a superior rock record that manages to combine a sense of modernity with being fully briefed on the heritage from which it is formed, Walk The Sky is hard to beat.

Walk The Sky is a truly phenomenal piece of work from a band who Rock Sins have long stated are the next Download Festival headliners in waiting. Walk The Sky is hopefully the last piece of the puzzle in helping them to achieve that goal. A finer hard rock album you will not find in 2019.

The entire album feels like Alter Bridge are ready to take that leap to Festival headliner status and have created an album full of Hard Rock greatness, a collection of which is rarely seen on any album other than a compilation. This is their finest work and certain to be as successful, if not more that the previous albums. Walk The Sky is that album that pushes Alter Bridge to the pinnacle of Rock music.

  • Spill Magazine

Ultimately a solid album, Walk The Sky feels like a lateral move rather than a forward progression like much of their work from the past three years. Alter Bridge certainly deliver on what they’re known for – hard hitting modern rock performed at a level simply above most of their peers, however it will not challenge or exceed your expectations of the band.

Walk The Sky won’t necessarily shock and surprise, but it’s a formidable entry in an consistent catalog. Alter Bridge blurs the line between expectation and experimentation to create an exceedingly enjoyable rock and roll album.

Full of energy, and a clear display of each member growing with their skill-set, there is little that holds Walk The Sky back. It is undeniable that at some points it can slip, but the way down is not as long a journey as the one that is going up for ALTER BRIDGE.

  • Live Metal

Alter Bridge has reached that tricky spot in its career where its sound is well established and its fans have certain expectations for each new album. At the same time, the band has released enough music that standing pat now will make new releases sound redundant. “Walk the Sky” is a near perfect progression at this point, tweaking and enhancing a tried-and-true formula while holding fast to what Alter Bridge always has been about.

  • The Moshville Times

Walk the Sky isn’t a bad album, far from it. All the usual hallmarks are there, chock full of their signature riffs, menacing bass and thunderous drums. It’s perhaps their most varied to date and the new approach to creating songs makes for their best album from a technical standpoint but feels like they’re chasing something just outside their reach.

Walk the Sky showcases the continued musical genius that is Alter Bridge. Like with Slipknot and Korn, I have been waiting for another Alter Bridge LP that will not only raise my spirits, but also find ecstasy in life. This record does that and every fan of the group, old and new, will find euphoria when they walk the walk .
