  • Pitchfork

On the 18-year-old New York rapper’s debut album, a pocketful of catchy melodies and bubbly rhythms don’t make up for a lack of anything interesting to say.

Virgo World is a pretty solid debut album for Lil Tecca. Sure, it would be nice to hear him open up more in his music, as he still lacks a certain depth of character and artistic identity. However, this is a great starting point for the 18-year-old, who shows glimpses of individuality and has all the potential in the world to continue developing.

Is Virgo World terrible? No. I think the beats on the album are very good. I also think that the album has some solid guest appearances, melodies that will get stuck in your head, and lyrics that young bosses can relate to.

I enjoyed this album off of the strength that it was Lil Tecca’s debut album. Although I cannot connect with the themes and content of the younger artists of today’s music, I was more than proud to see that Lil Tecca finally made his mainstream mark. I feel like a proud big sister watching her brother win an award or something. Overall, the album was decent and encompassed the music of today.

The vibe stays fun and overall it’s a celebration of where Tecca is now, and excitement for what’s to come from the burgeoning rap star.

  • The Needle Drop

On his debut album, Lil Tecca does little to distinguish himself from the current crop of formulaic melo-trap artists.

  • Legends Will Never Die

I don’t mean any disrespect to the kid at all when I say this, but I think this album just goes to reveal Lil Tecca as a 1-hit wonder. The production choices are mostly bland & the rapping is more underwhelming than it’s ever been to the point where it just puts me to sleep.

Overall, I was left with exhaustion and regret. Lil Tecca’s monotone voice, inability to sing, and uninspired lyrics made Virgo World into the disappointment that I was forced to experience.

  • HipHop Hopscotch

Tecca is a nice artist in small doses but he hasn't provided a good project yet. The biggest turn off on this album is horribly boring and has a run of around 7-8 bad songs straight - at least the first half has some good songs.
