Unfinished Business

Unfinished Business is the second collaboration album between R&Bsinger R. Kelly and rapper Jay-Z and was released worldwide on October 26, 2004. It was distributed in the United States and Canada by Jive Records and Island Def Jam Music Group, by the Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) and its subsidiary Jive Records, except in Canada and the United States of America where Island Def Jam Music Group and its labels Def Jam Recordings and Roc-A-Fella Records replaced BMG. The album was composed of unreleased tracks from the recording sessions of 2002's The Best of Both Worlds,[1]although slight additions were made. - Wikipedia

  • Pitchfork

Unfinished Business is a light, breezy listen, and surprisingly solid for an album with no real reason to exist from two guys who can't stand each other.

But rather than the best of both worlds, Unfinished Business mostly offers the superficial worst of both artists. Kelly and Jay-Z created something more than another forgettable party album full of interchangeable club songs.

Better to revisit the past, it seems, than dwell on the opportunistic and craven present.

Roughly as valuable as a half-price poster or mug, Unfinished Business is a glorified tour souvenir.

Let it be known that some things are just not meant to come to fruition.

It's certainly not the best release of 2004, but Unfinished Business is easily the most confusing.
