Trey's three-year hiatus seems to have paid off. This album leaves you with an array of emotions, but most importantly leaves you yearning for more.

  • The Musical Hype

Ultimately, Trey Songz delivers another successful R&B album. Tremaine the Album doesn’t offer anything “brand new” from the artist, but he continues to flex.

The album is ok to me. On some of the songs the writing can be better (especially on the verses), but it definitely gets the job done in terms of being a body of work that helps in the bedroom.

While there's plenty to enjoy in Tremaine, Songz' new album exposes one reason why listeners are drawn to his contemporaries' darker tales of romance, from Drake's distrust and Rihanna's dramatics to the Weeknd's doom and gloom.

I would not say it’s his best work but nonetheless, from his marketing strategies to the production of the album, it was seamless.

There's no disproving that Songz is still in his element, though, frequently enthused as ever about taking full advantage of what is at his disposal, even as he relates the multitude of ways in which his conflicted ego's tripping out.

While we may not understand the hows, whys or whatevers of this journey towards love, at least it seems like an exciting and very passionate ride.

Trey Songz’ good intentions on this project are certainly there, but for the most part he appears to be stuck in the past.

Tremaine shows Trey’s growth mentally, but not quite musically, which is what I would like to see on his next effort.

The two sides of Trey Songz become distinct on his new project, as the singer does add some depth to his persona; it’s just a shame that the album as a whole is average and forgettable.
