Critic Reviews
Show All-
Wall of Sound
I Prevail have definitely outdone themselves, redefining their sound and ultimately telling the world they will stop at nothing to “rise above it“.
-
Metal Insider
The highs and lows of Trauma take you on an intense emotional journey.
-
Substream Magazine
I Prevail has gone through quite a bit in their young lives as a band and they have overcome. They have taken that “rock” genre and elevated it. Keep an eye for these guys, their potential is massive and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for them.
-
Cryptic Rock
Certainly the theme of mental struggle is driven home throughout, making Trauma a personal album, one that is chock-full of raw confessions. You can’t fault unfiltered honesty.
-
Madness to Creation
It’s a very solid personal account of a personal struggle that all listeners can relate to.
-
Dead Press
Granted, I Prevail may be working in a subgenre that is currently working through its next transitional phase, but by taking time on the composition of the tracks, ‘Trauma’ proves to be worthwhile listen.
-
Exclaim!
I Prevail test the limits of this on Trauma and come out ahead of the pack; it's ambitious for a band not yet out of their 20s.
-
Caliber TV
I Prevail could have done something similar with various traumas for this record, but instead it feels like Trauma is just a title for this record, not an embodiment of its make-up.
-
Live Metal
"Trauma,” its adventurous second full-length record.
-
Side Stage Magazine
I Prevail has never been afraid to talk about such things in their music.
-
The Soundboard
Trauma may want to rest behind the notion of personal exploration and catharsis, but that feels surface level at the very most, and is only saved from the cynical nadir of The Amity Affliction by a performance that suggests that this is a band who actually want to sound somewhat convincing.
-
Ghost Cult Magazine
I may be no expert in the field of modern pop music, but if that isn’t the right combination of emotion, Auto-Tune and cheesiness to capture teenage attention spans then I’ve clearly lost touch with the fellow youth.
-
Original Rock
I’m not exaggerating when I say that he entire album is an absolute triumph.
-
2 Loud 2 Old Music
Such a great variety of songs and the flow from song to song feels right with the minor exception of the placement of “Goodbye”, but I can’t deduct for that.
-
Ignite Music Magazine
With their own sound, style, and statement, these musicians represent the potential of rock music in 2019 and beyond.
-
NOIZZE
It borders on exceptional, but when you take a step back and look at this record as a whole, you soon realize that Trauma doesn’t do enough to justify its length or hype.
-
Blabber Mouth
The album represents a realization of I PREVAIL's full potential.
-
Rush on Rock
Trauma is a masterpiece of misdirection.
-
BandsNBrews
This album is a solid statement from the band that they are here to stay.
-
Heavy Magazine
Look no further people this is one of the albums of 2019 – it is aggressive, beautiful and very, very personal.
-
The Hawks' Herald
"TRAUMA" is easily one of my favorite albums I have ever listened to. From the instrumentation, to the vocal styles, to the emotional lyrics, the record is a masterpiece.
-
BPM
With even more tracks still, this is certainly an impressive second album that I Prevail should be proud of.
-
Punktastic
Draping all the brutal, chugging heaviness and powerful melodies that make metalcore great in their own fresh, uncompromising style, it’s clear that I Prevail are here to stay – and boy, are we happy to have them.
-
Already Heard
Trauma’ is the sound of a band stumbling around trying to find an identity, ending up with a tonne of slick ideas, a handful of choruses and nothing else.
-
Down the Front Media
It just seems like a courageous and ambitious but poorly executed and probably fairly misjudged attempt.
-
National Rock Review
With an equally melodic and momentous offering, I Prevail soar on Trauma.
-
Local B and Hub
Trauma is keeping this seemingly dying genre alive, with fresh ideas and a sound that has a little bit of everything for those that have enjoyed all variations of the Metalcore/Post-hardcore genre.
-
The Wichitan
This is a great sophomore album from a great band that continues impress.
-
Concert Crap
I Prevail took a bit of a break between albums, but Trauma proves that they are here to stay.
-
KIBZ
I really like the “concept” of this record if I can throw that term in here. We all have crap we kick around in our heads and this album seems to give each one of those feelings a spot.
-
Hysteria Magazine
I Prevail have raised the bar high, and for them, there’s no coming back.
-
Hi-Fi Way
Trauma is the sound of a band back from its trials and tribulations, refined and streamlined.
-
The Spinning Thoughts
TRAUMA is a truly unique album. It is different than anything we’ve heard before from I Prevail, yet it is so true to the band.
-
Live a Little Bit Louder
What makes “Trauma” such an interesting album is the way it includes elements from the band’s older work while experimenting with some new and very different influences, and all of that is combined together throughout the record to create a memorable sophomore effort.
-
The GM Reviews
The work is still good, so I would still give it a shot, but it was definitely not what I was expecting when I heard about this new album.
-
Cigars and Leisure
This album is everything an I Prevail fan could want and so much more. It feels intensely personal, like reading diary entries of someone who is going through hell but is persevering.
-
Metal Kingdom
On Trauma, they uplift rock to a plateau where soundscapes can unpredictably toss and turn between heavy metal, alternative, hip-hop, and electronic moods without warning, boundaries, or rules.
-
Outburn Online
So, look out, Trauma is a fucking beast.
-
Mixdown
The LP is sharply grim from the onset, but across its labyrinthine 13 tracks, the band explore a wealth of sonic peaks and valleys.
-
Discovered Magazine
But truth be told, everyone belongs here – and I Prevail belong in this industry. The ‘Trauma’ is over for now.

Deviant Art
If you're a fan of this band, you'll probably like this album, but overall if you want better music with quality, there is music out there that is SO much better than this trainwreck.
