With that being said, every single song on the album sounds action-packed, riveting, and dramatic. If you are someone that grew up enjoying Demolition Derbys, I have good news for you: TOP is the music version of a Demolition Derby!

It’s a sad, cold, desolate album. Maybe you can’t fake that. Maybe that’s what people love about YoungBoy. He’s not numb. He’s a raw nerve, a throbbing ache. He feels everything.

The musical and thematic content here is just as grayscale as the album cover. Top is a perfect representation of a saturated, bleak, and rather boring rap scene in 2020. NBA Youngboy confirmed sucks 2020.

Top is just as boring as almost every other project I’ve ever heard from NBA YoungBoy. I wish him well in his ongoing mental health struggles, but absolutely nothing about this dude’s music interests me whether it be the basic production or his lowbrow presence on the mic.

The countless songs YoungBoy Never Broke Again made leading up to Top sharpened both his skills and his vision, and here the rapper reaches a new peak. The material is some of his strongest, managing commercial accessibility while giving a more authentic view of his personality than anything he's done before.

The best way to describe this album is crafted. It is evident that a lot of time, care and energy has gone into this release, in order to hone its holistic sounds and ideas. YoungBoy Never Broke Again has an ability to reflect on broader themes and collaborate with numerous producers to create a cohesive, yet multi-faceted display that shows a deep understanding beyond surface-level references and allusions.

this project is 21 tracks which all blends together and becomes very forgettable. The production is boring and generic, he isn't the most captivating rapper and it feels rushed on this overblown album. The more melancholy tracks to put it bluntly were tedious, and while there was a couple of highlights the ratio is awful. It's just a really forgettable project where nearly every song was so passive.
