Rolling Stone
1987 - except for a couple of outright duds on side two, is as good as this band has ever been since its “Smoke on the Water” salad days
-
All Music
House of Blue Light has actually stood the test of time just as well, if not better, than its predecessor

The House of Blue Light does not sound like the same confident band that recorded Perfect Strangers.

2018 - there is enough nifty stuff here to please most long-time fans–and to capture a few new ones

Still a fairly good Deep Purple album, but perhaps too 80s in places. For newcomers, it is definitely not the first album you should get by the band, but you should still think about adding it to your collection eventually
