  • Rolling Stone

2002 - The Great Divide is glossy, tuneful and turned up to ten — which would constitute a triumph for another artist. But Nelson is a performer who uses plain, powerful lyrics and a handsome but unvarnished voice to great effect.

The rest is radio-ready adult pop, produced fairly well but not inherently interesting, no matter how professional it is.

  • Pop Matters

2002 - All told, The Great Divide isn't a bad album. Melodies from the likes of Bernie Taupin (on two songs) and Rob Thomas's pop sensibilities definitely make for a record that's a pleasant listen.
