The Battle Rages On
| Deep PurpleThe Battle Rages On
The Battle Rages On... is the fourteenth studio album by the British hard rock band Deep Purple, released in 1993. It is the last album recorded with the band's classic Mk II line-up, which reunited for a second time (the first reunion being for 1984's Perfect Strangers). Even though Mike DiMeo was initially chosen as the singer for the album after Joe Lynn Turner was fired, Ian Gillan eventually returned to the band in late 1992 and had to rework much of the material already existing for it, which had been intended for Joe Lynn Turner and DiMeo. -Wikipedia

the five good songs on The Battle Rages On are worth the purchase at a reasonable price

2008 - a rather sad testament to how far Deep Purple’s creative talents had dropped from their heyday

Rarebird's Rock and Roll Rarity Reviews
it is clear that inspiration was running very low. This is definitely not the way this lineup ought to be remembered.

Ultimate Classic Rock
holds the distinction of being Deep Purple’s unhappiest album

Wilson & Alroy's Record Reviews
Nearly every track has a satisfactory head-banging hook
-
John McFerrin Music Reviews
Alas, this just isn't a set of ideas that really excites me at all, and consequently the band, at this point, doesn't excite me at all.
-
Louder Sound
The opening title track was a barnstormer, with the band sounding as spiky and furious as they ever had, but from that moment on it was all downhill.
-
Only Solitaire
A further Rainbow-ization of the band takes place, with mediocrity pouring out of all the pores...
