All Music
Fortunately, most of Tattooed Heart veers toward the quieter, sensitive moments, which means this is the perfect dose of nostalgia: it conjures memories of the past but exists in a softer, subtler present.

Sounds Like Nashville
For his third solo record, the Oklahoma native continues to do what he does best – just sing.

Saving Country Music
Tattooed Heart is not a great record, but it is not a total loss either. More so than other projects that may pass under your nose, this one has some tracks worth picking up or checking out, principally “Only Broken Heart in San Antone,” “She Don’t Honky Tonk No More,” and “I Worshiped The Woman You Walked On.” But aside from that, it’s a few forgettable tracks, and a few tracks you would love to forget.

You can hear Dunn striking a reflective posture toward country's generational shifts, too, and carving out a satisfying new role for himself.

Mega Country
Each song sounds authentically like the Ronnie Dunn we've always known, but with a fresh, new approach. Dunn wrote the majority of his Brooks & Dunn hits, but chose a variety of outside cuts on this project. You get a sense that he consciously made the decision to mix it up a bit on his third solo record, and you have to give him props for trying something new.

The album even has three songs in a row with the word Heart in it, which shows a very explicit theme for the album. The album has many lines that are lessons and reflections from his life that are sure to make listening think twice about their life.

Nash Country Daily
His smooth vocals have captivated us for more than 25 years with songs like “My Maria,” “Neon Moon” and “Believe”—and those same smooth vocals can be heard again on his third solo studio album, Tattooed Heart.

Country Music Matters
Other than the one little misstep, this record is top-notch. I’d even say it’s Dunn’s best solo record yet.
