Take it to the Limit

Take It to the Limit is the second studio album by American rock band Hinder. The album has been in the works since January 2008 and was released November 4, 2008 on Universal Republic Records. The album was recorded by Jay Van Poederooyen and produced by Brian Howes at Van Howes Studios in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The record was mixed by Chris Lord-Alge at Mix LA in Tarzana, California, USA. It has a much heavier glam metal and a lesser post-grunge influence than their last album, while retaining the elements of hard rockthat the band had previously used. The album has been certified Gold by the RIAA. -Wikipedia

  • Sputnik Music

Less Nickelback & Creed, but more Bon Jovi & Def Leppard. This is better than their debut, but that’s not saying all that much.

This is a straight-across rock record that serves the people who want to listen to it well.

You know what they say about bands with big vocals and bigger guitars: small ideas.

  • Rock Freak

But this doesn't take away the single most annoying aspect of Hinder, the fact that they sound just like Nickelback, Seether and all that sort of bands.

They tread the familiar ground too carefully, winding up as bland by-the-book bad boys.

Overall, Hinder’s Take It to the Limit produced some solid sounds and had a couple stellar tracks that will definitely attract the ears of most young listeners.

Like them or not Hinder is one of the bands leading the revival for straight up rock-n-roll and “Take It To The Limit” is going to go a long way in helping the cause.

With the great opener "Use Me" of course - powerful riffs, killer chorus, fat backgrounds, whiskey-soaked lead vocals from another star

There is only one song or another that does not please much, in the others the album is a good one, especially for those who enjoy an 80s hard rock or grunge.

They may not be rocket scientists, but at least they know what their mission is: to rock.

Kudos to Blower and mike for the guitar riffs, and especially blower for the solos, which were mind blowing.

They’ve got nothing to say, and they’re not bringing anything new to the table

If only the whiplash they induce resulted from real headbanging, not from trying to follow Hinder’s song-to-song indecision about whether to be studs or wimps.

I'll go as far to say I personally think it's better than their debut.

Drive really fast with the windows open, and let Hinder bring the rock. Just wait till you get to your destination to party like they want you to.

However, like anybody too beholden to their idols, they often tread familiar ground too carefully.

This repetition hammers home Hinder's stultifying lack of imagination and even that would be excusable if the group had a scintilla of sleaze.
