  • FUNKTOPIA

The new album Strut from Lenny Kravitz seems like a culmination of raw rock and funk thrown into a blender.

  • ALL MUSIC

Kravitz deploys all his considerable sonic skills on songs that are purposefully trashy and unapologetically fun and the result is pure pleasure.

Lenny Kravitz returns to form with an excellent new set of songs that make you dance as much as they make you think.

Understandably, he’s lost a little youthful edge: there’s no defiant Mr. Cab Driver, for example. But the songs hold up.

There is something to be said for Kravitz’s mix of styles, smooth vocals, and refusal to make bland, generic, contemporary music. His albums are like a bag of pick and mix: full of variety, sweet to taste, and will make listeners remember their childhood with fondness.

Strut clutches equal doses of polish and punch to give Lenny Kravitz that rare mid-career best.

this LP gets a “must have” vote from BourbonAndVinyl. It’s a fun listen and a great return to form from a an artist I thought was done. His career may have been a little up and down, but whose hasn’t. Lenny and his band have really come together on an album only he could put together – it’s as diverse as the members of his band.

this is a rock album in which Lenny takes us to the topic desire in many different forms and very outspoken. This is exactly what Lenny had planned when he started writing this album.

There are several great songs on the album and a good mix of dance songs, slow songs and classic rock. Strut confirms Lenny Kravitz is still flying like an eagle and may be around for another 20 years.

  • POP Magazine

it cannot be denied that Lenny Kravitz possesses brilliance, having contributed to the historical musical archives with some unforgettable singles. “Strut”, however, is an inadequate portrayal of his talents. The good news is that the undertones of the old Kravitz are still identifiable and he did say “It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over”. So hopefully it’s not over yet.

Charisma has a new name, and it’s called Lenny Kravitz. With the release of his 10th studio album, Kravitz impressively proves that he’s getting better with age.

As a rock album goes, Kravitz delivers a no-nonsense album that is simply easy to listen to and invariably sexy.

Understandably, he's lost a little youthful edge: there's no defiant Mr. Cab Driver, for example. But the songs hold up. Bowie-esque Sex kicks things off with ample cheek. Standout The Chamber is surprisingly new wave.

it’s one of Kravitz’ better albums, and is certainly worth checking it out for those who like their rock and roll with a funky twist.

whilst it might not be a disco album ‘Strut’ does have some huge slabs of funk and soul within its grooves.

It is well worth a listen, whatever genre you prefer, not to mention this would be a good one to have if your other half is “not too keen” on your music taste. A great balance if you will and a good listen in general terms.
