No overproduction or added gloss. These have a thread of strange magic – like a pinch of salt that glistens on a honeydew.

Stay Around is free of filler. It is so consistently fine, it is the great unreleased Cale album. For fans this is the holy grail, but it's also an excellent introduction for the uninitiated. Not to be greedy, but let's hope this is not a one-off. We can never have too much.

This is another tasteful and tasty JJ Cale set, one that comfortably slots in with the rest of his similarly styled catalog. It’s like he never left.

This goes to prove that even though you may not have heard of J.J.Cale, you have almost certainly heard his work and are, probably like me, unaware of the value of his legacy that this hugely talented but modest musician has given us.

A true one-off and absolutely one of the greats. Whether this is a one-off archive trawl or the first of many is currently unclear, but it’s a valuable addition to the canon either way.
