Critic Reviews
Show All-
Louder Sound
Maybe this is one for rabid devotees only, but it’s still an excellent example of how to do these lavish reissues properly.
-
Spill Magazine
The album is, in simple words, an absolute delight to listen to. The legends leave no room for flaws.
-
Sputnik Music
When the songs stand out, they usually do so well.
-
All Music
The lyrics continue the self-consciously intellectual, PC approach begun on Among the Living, but about half of the album is surprisingly dull.
-
Moshville
For those looking to expand their collection, or who don’t already have State of Euphoria, this is the version you should be buying.
-
Metal Forces Magazine
(1988) ‘Finale’ offers a fitting climax to the year’s best release so far. Ignore all the hype and the image; just buy, listen and enjoy.
-
Metalheads Forever
Although the response to ‘State…’ has been overwhelmingly lukewarm at best, there are enough songs here to keep the average Anthrax fan happy, there are album tracks here that work hard to earn the love they deserve.

Anyone wishing to own a 30th anniversary edition of State of Euphoria is advised to make a purchase immediately.
-
Spectrum Culture
Some have a sentimental attachment to State of Euphoria–one that can still be appreciated by remembering your tattered 1988 cassette copy and leaving it there. Your money is better spent on a live ticket or any number of recent Anthrax albums you may have overlooked.

KNAC Radio
I for one love this kind of stuff and it’s this kind of stuff that hooks me every time and has me re-buying some of my favorite classic albums. This ‘30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition’ of State of Euphoria is no different.
-
Planet Mosh
A great reissue of a classic album.
-
Loudwire
In a nutshell, the album was a watered down (and rather repetitive) sequel to the mighty ‘Among the Living,’ and the band’s good humor was unfairly seen as a weakness by many anally retentive metal fans. But, hindsight being 20/20, these same fans would soon revise their harsh first impressions and start longing . . . Better late than never.
-
Pop Matters
With State of Euphoria, Anthrax tempered some of the excessive '80s metal tendencies of their vocal, lead guitar, and song arrangements, reaching back toward something more viscerally punk as the '80s ended.
-
The Ace Black Blog
State Of Euphoria does not venture into new territory, Anthrax opting to put their skateboarder shorts on and plough a predominantly familiar field. They find a couple of juicy fruits, but also a lot of common potatoes.
-
Stan DW
This re-release is a must have for any thrash metal fans or self professed metalheads.
-
Overdrive Mag
State of Euphoria is not as strong as the album before or the album after.
-
Classic Rock
STATE OF EUPHORIA, the third anthrax album with vocalist Joey Belladonna, has done well and still sounds pretty powerful.
