State of Emergency
| Lil TjayState of Emergency
On May 8, 2020, Lil Tjay released the EP State of Emergency, on which he "channels his emotive sound into abrasive drill". The seven-song EP includes the fan-favorite track, "Zoo York", featuring Fivio Foreign and late rapper Pop Smoke. NME's Kyann-Sian Williams gave the EP a negative review, writing: "This record was clearly released to capitalise on the hype around New York drill, featuring some mediocre songs that are unlikely to have much longevity". -Wikipedia
Critic Reviews
Show All-
Pitchfork
Across a mostly fun, guest-filled 22 minutes, the young New York rapper does what needs to be done and puts on for his city.
-
NME
The rapper has been acclaimed by the likes of Lil Wayne, but this record is so hollow that even a posthumous Pop Smoke appearance fails to land.

Ratings Game Music
Though Tjay has shown flashes of greatness in his music before, he still struggles to understand the style of music he needs to make to succeed.
