NME
Within the first four songs, 5SOS shout out underachievers, college dropouts and kids battling low self-esteem. They do so with winning sincerity, but even that can’t quite make up for the record’s derivative sound.

This is the new broken scene. It sounds great, and it feels even better.

Now back with sophomore album Sounds Good Feels Good , the guys have matured some and are ferociously tinkering to keep the wheels of the once well-oiled pop-punk machine turning

To follow up the success of a first album can be a challenge for some artists, but for 5 Seconds of Summer we can definitely say that they have nailed it.

Those of you who regard boy bands as a blight on society aren’t invited to the party. The rest of us can dive right in.
-

Although not a perfect album, Sounds Good Feels Good shows that 5 Seconds of Summer is more than their boy band image, and a band that should be treated on similar calibers as All Time Low and New Found Glory.
-
The Ithacan
5 Seconds of Summer has truly experimented more with its sound and vocals on “Sounds Good Feels Good,” and the album does not disappoint.
-

Whilst they play their own instruments and write their own songs, there just isn’t anything that distinguishes them from anybody else in the music scene.
-
Movellas
Here we have an intelligent band that acknowledges the need to stay relevant, but doesn’t seem to know how.
-
The Pop Break
Sounds Good, Feels Good as a whole is multi-faceted, young talent and that’s what should be judged – not your possible elitist hate for these “pretty boys.”
-

Although many My Chemical Romance fans have been known to criticize Sounds Good Feels Good for its lack of pop-punk feeling and leaning less towards the punk side, the album itself is great

USC Annenberg Media
With rockier, pop punk-influenced sounds, 5 Seconds of Summer delivers their new album with deeper emotions and messages, legitimizing their place as a pop-rock band with alternative edge.

Renowned for Sound
Sounds Good Feels Good is a decent follow-up to 5 Seconds Of Summer with its much smoother and less in-your-face delivery.

But they also know the kind of power they wield among their fans, this idea of forming a unified community of misfits -- and it just so happens that 5SOS have a perfectly suitable soundtrack for their new revolution.

The Sound Board Reviews
Sounds Good Feels Good shows their potential to branch out into more electronic tinged guitar pop. But it’s just not sounding or feeling too good at the moment.
-
Hit the Floor
Overall, it is a great album, but it would just be great to see them really find their own distinct sound.
-

but for as much as they are maturing and improving, the record feels transitional as they haven't quite nailed down their best path.
-

while there’s nothing earth shattering about Sounds Good Feels Good, it delights fans with new music and serves its purpose of helping the band shed its image of being in One Direction’s shadow.
-

Even though pop punk isn’t really my genre of music, 5sos makes an exception with their playful lyrics and slick 90’s pop punk guitar riffs and vocals.
