Smiley Smile

Smiley Smile is the 12th studio album by American rock band the Beach Boys, released on September 18, 1967. The album reached number 9 on UK record charts, but sold poorly in the US, peaking at number 41 the band's lowest chart placement to that point. Critics and fans generally received the album with confusion and disappointment. Only one single was issued from Smiley Smile: "Heroes and Villains". "Good Vibrations" and "Gettin' Hungry" were also released, but the former was issued a year earlier, while the latter was not credited to the band. -WIKIPEDIA

it's a rather nifty, if rather slight, effort that's plenty weird -- in fact, it's often downright goofy.

'Smiley Smile' is in-fact a highly regarded and influential album in it's own right.

A strange hodgepodge of a record, but Brian's songwriting was so otherworldly at this point that it's still one of the group's best efforts.

Smiley Smile is a bizarre and poorly produced album with merely whispers of that genius.

Smiley Smile is a waste of potential, despite how bizarrely charming it is in places.

Well worth a listen, though as I said not as enjoyable as it is interesting.
