Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum is entirely focused on its goals. At nearly an hour in length, this LP’s run time actually feels justified for once, and for the first time, actually offers all of the band’s best qualities in abundance and on one album.

  • Kerrang!

The title of Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum translates from Latin as, ‘If you want peace, prepare for war’. If this is getting ready for war, it’s one about as relevant as The Falklands. And with no thrust or drive, no emotional weight or sonic heft, it sounds like they’re preparing to lose.

If ever there was an album that this year needed, it’s Seether’s Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum. The album expresses what people feel. It’s soulful and mournful and beautifully put together. The fifty-two minutes come and go so quickly as the listener is caught up in the music. Therefore, Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum is played on repeat multiple times.

Seether hit it out of the park with Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum. Even with the high praise received from their last album, Poison The Parish, they may have outdone themselves. The distinct 90’s musical vibe combined with the traditional nuances of the current rock standard, Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum should appeal to a wide range of listeners.

Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum is surely a highlight of my year. In all aspects, musicianship, vocal delivery, the art of lyricism and the artwork (oh, I forgot to say I also love the artwork, it’s pretty neat), this album has much to offer. That was a fantastic birthday gift I had not been expecting!

if there’s one thing Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum proves is that they are relentless in their pursuits and ever vigilant in their execution. Despite the progress and journey of Poison the Parish, there is an evolution here that is evident in even the simplest creative choices from track-to-track. The solemnity and intention with which Seether has crafted Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum is a testament to not only their work ethic as musicians but their growth and expanded awareness of the human condition.

At the end of the day, it's still your very standard, run-of-the-mill mainstream post-grunge hard rock record. And that's fine, but it isn't special.

Continued maturity and care paid to a long-established sound make “Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum” another worthy addition to a fabled Seether discography and shows that this aging rock act has no plans of slowing down any time soon.
