SHUT DOWN VOLUME 2

Shut Down Volume 2 is the fifth album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released on March 2, 1964 on Capitol. Produced by Brian Wilson, it was the first of three studio albums that the band would release in 1964. The album is the first not to feature rhythm guitarist David Marks, who departed from the band following disagreements with manager Murry Wilson. - WIKIPEDIA

Another erratic early album from the Beach Boys; few other rock LPs have such a wide gap between the best and worst material.

As the real follow up to Surfer Girl, Shut Down Volume 2 is a wildly uneven effort; a handful of songs are stronger and more intricately arranged than anything The Beach Boys had produced up to this point, but there’s little of note beyond those three or four classics.

2014- This is a decent album. It's got great songs, and it's got filler. Brian's songwriting and production takes a notable increase in quality here.

2008- Shut Down Volume 2 is an average Beach Boys album at best.

Oh, there's so much great material on this album! One thing I notice in terms of the band progression..... The arrangements are getting more creative!
