It's just another way Train cover their bases on Save Me, San Francisco, an album that won't bring back yesteryear, but there's not much on pop radio like this, and guys like the Ram will take what they can get.

An enjoyable albeit average album from a band capable of so much more.

Train's 15-year anniversary puts the group on the nostalgia track, from shrinking its lineup to the three founders-Monahan, guitarist Jimmy Stafford and drummer Scott Underwood- to a title track that celebrates the band's formative days.

So, if you are on a long drive down the hot and sunny highways of California, this is your music. Clearly, Hey, Soul Sister drove this album out of the dust into the light. But the rest of Save Me, San Francisco is by no means bad.

female first
Words is another strong addition to the album - a country ballad that you could totally imagine some hunky woodcutter serenading you with from a log in the middle of a forest, it’s definitely a song for dreaming to.
-
mark gilroy music
The album bounces along through bright, playful tracks like ‘I Got You’ as well as rock/pop ballads ‘Parachute’ and ‘This Ain’t Goodbye’. For me, the highlight is ‘You Already Know’, where the cheese factor is dialed-down, starting with a simple strings intro, and building into an energetic rock anthem.

pop crush
Single after single, Monahan brings us fun and clever lines -- something you don't hear everyday in pop music. 'Save Me, San Francisco' is the fourth single and the title track off of the band's latest record, following their monstrous hit, 'Hey, Soul Sister.

alternative addiction
They look to add to their success with “Save Me, San Francisco” and really there’s no reason that shouldn’t happen. In the trend of every Train album there’s five potential hit singles here, a bunch of tracks that you can just enjoy listening to, and really an hour’s worth of music that fits every mood.

Save Me, San Francisco is a love song to the band's hometown. Their loyal fan base will no doubt celebrate it to be sure, but more than this, Save Me, San Francisco sounds like Train are swinging hard for the pop fences.

The inclusion of a live version of the afore-mentioned ubiquitous 'Drops Of Jupiter' serves to overshadow many of the songs though, even with it not being a great recording, with nothing getting near the same standard. Still, fans of the band should be pleased as it very much seems that Train have picked up where they left off
-
edge induced cohesion
Like most of Train’s albums, this one has marked mood shifts at times from one song to the next, going from frustration and longing to hopeful expectation of a future love.

I am overjoyed that I brought the album now. The album makes for fantastic listening in my humble opinion, and is one of the best albums of the year

Train took some time out from their tour with Maroon 5 to stop by the Tonight Show with Jay Leno to perform the title track from their hit album Save Me, San Francisco. Lead singer Pat Monahan was particularly animated, shimmying and dancing through the song, and selling its upbeat, goofy lyrics with a big grin and wild hand gestures.

One of the highlight tracks from his new album was his killer version of "Working Girl," which was an anthem of female empowerment.
