2017 -0 Rush's Roll the Bones has a nice simple hard rock sound. Roll the Bones is the best sounding Rush album since Grace Under Pressure and has some of their best sounding hits in years.

More thought provoking lyrics behind increasing musical talent.

the record treads territory (highbrow melodic hard rock) similar to its recent predecessors, with only a few surprises thrown in for good measure

2015 - This is a way to hear music in a way before label politics and market pressures force sometimes destructive changes. Sometimes, it’s subtle, as it was with Roll the Bones; sometimes, it’s incredibly revealing, but it’s usually rewarding for the really good listeners.

Why should I care about a Rush album without interesting instrumental work and without really strong songs? Few parts of it are horrible, but there are so many better things one could listen to.

Pretty good. Probably their most effective predictable pop album.

The songwriting here is just substandard. There are exactly four really good songs here, one decent instrumental, and the rest is very forgettable.

this is a return to form in more ways than one. Even though synths still clang about and a few of the experiments go too far (um, yes, that's Geddy Lee rapping on the title track), the songwriting is stupendous.

There's nothing inherently wrong about trying for a commercial smash, but they're never going to be successful at it if their songwriting hasn't improved a whole lot since Presto. They just gave the same blandness and lack-of-substance in a slightly different sound! Bleugh!
