RECOVERY
| EminemRECOVERY
Recovery is the seventh studio album by American rapper Eminem. It was released on June 18, 2010, by Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and Interscope Records as the follow-up to Eminem's previous album Relapse (2009). Originally planned to be released as Relapse 2, the album was renamed to Recovery when Eminem found the music on the album different than its predecessor. -Wikipedia

Rolling Stone
Recovery is his most casual-sounding album in years
-
Genius
I really liked the more lyrical/mature Em.
-
NME
this is a return to form, not greatness
-
Consequence of Sound
Real, raw, and raging, this is the Eminem we all fell in love with so many years ago.
-
Pitchfork
the more he motors on about having reclaimed his passion for hip-hop and finally figured out who he is, the more draining the album becomes
-
AV Club
Eminem unflinchingly owns up to a lot on his road to redemption
-
Slant Magazine
He’s a puzzling man who raises a lot of questions, one of which is how such a wondrous talent can make such bloated, sullen, and detestable albums?
-
BBC
The real Slim Shady has never really made himself known, but here an introspective Eminem sounds more genuinely impassioned than he has in years.
-
Hip Hop DX
one confusingly excellent listen
-
Spin
So is Recovery a classic album? No. But is it an essential one in shaping Eminem’s future? Absolutely.

Sputnik
we’ll take Recovery for what it is
-
All Music
he hasn’t sounded this unfiltered and proud since The Marshall Mathers LP
-
Tiny Mix Tapes
For the average listener, Recovery will prove to be a very stale and disposable record; for the discerning Eminem fan, a sad and unwitting betrayal.

Recovery could be the opus of his career
-
Hip Hop Wired
Em has shown us that he has matured without leaving his roots, something that we have been waiting for in an album for a long time
-
NY Times
it’s merely charmingly bare-bones
-
Pop Dose
For all its flaws, this is an album devoid of a lot of the dumb clutter that dogs hip-hop, like between-song skits and unnecessary guest appearances, and it hints at a brighter post-40 future for Eminem. With a little editing, who knows?
-
The Telegraph
It is complicated stuff, and sometimes the sheer intensity of his rhyming takes the breath away.
-
American Song Writer
it’s clear that if this effort is just the recovery, then the countdown to full rehabilitation begins now
-
Entertainment Weekly
At times, Eminem seems more mature, paying heartfelt tribute to a late friend, grappling frankly with his pill-popping past, and striving to spread the inner peace that sobriety has brought him.
-
Black Youth Project
Recovery finds Eminem cementing his status as a world class lyricist, and there are some tracks here that are definite hit singles, sure to return Slim Shady to the top of the charts.

Eminem is BACK! The only difference is that this time, his anger has a touch of sympathy and soul.
-
IGN
Is it a step ahead Encore and Relapse??? Yes.
-
Drowned in Sound
The album is a sprawling, confusing, self-indulgent mess.

Music OMH
an album that is light years ahead of his last two but that doesn’t quite scale the heights of his purple patch in the early part of the last decade

this album reaches new heights of lyrical prowess and delivery
-
Soul in Stereo
Eminem has grown up, and this time he truly deserves the accolades.

Better when he’s styling out raps about bullshit. Garbage when he’s moaning about fame, we’ve heard that all before.

the comeback we figured he'd manage eventually, and if his newfound honesty and self-awareness becomes more pattern than anomaly
-
Z 107.9
Eminem has finally returned to form, which is to say he’s obnoxious, misogynistic, violent and often hurtful, but through it all, rarely short of brilliant.

Eminem produces a back to basics powerhouse reminiscent of the old days

Somewhere inside Recovery is a pretty good album.

"Recovery" is not his best, nor his worst, but either people will listen incessantly or barely at all. There is no middle ground

Eminem deserves an A+ for this phenomenal album, which should win album of the year. His masterful rhymes and songwriting cap off the aptly named 'Recovery.'
