  • Soul Tracks

As a project, Ready is ultimately as close to a memorable one-night stand as Songz has ever gotten. But, everyone knows sex and foreplay isn't good without at least a little romance. Shame Ready didn't get the memo.

While Ready is far from a perfect album, it seems Trey is learning how to inspirit his original works with the charm and inventiveness found in his freestyles and covers.

  • Day & a Dream

In its unevenness, there are flashes that Songz is more than capable of being the best young R&B singer out there.

As a whole, Ready is a solid effort from Trey Songz.

Trey Songz might, or he might not, it's hard to tell, but either way, this is as entertaining and frivolous as a one-night stand should be. If those played-out R. Kelly albums aren't doing the trick anymore, Ready is just what it says it is.

Trey Songz is the most frustrating R&B star to emerge this decade.

It’s an intelligent album, it’s a well-produced album, and it’s fantastically performed by Trey.

This R&B classic gives R. Kelly’s epic TP2.COM a run for its money. Just press play and let the music play. There is no need to skip any tracks.

This is one of the best R&B albums of 2009. I can listen to it from track one through seventeen nonstop.

  • The Core

Ready is a solid effort from the R&B crooner. The only thing that I would’ve liked to hear on this album is a song, or two, that actually gives us a sense of who Trey Songz actually is as a person.

With this release there’s no doubt in my mind that he won’t be successful.

  • The Boston Globe

Songz has made strides with each album; it’s too bad there aren’t more songs like “Be Where You Are,’’ a near-perfect slice of pop, or the beautifully sung “Love Lost.’’ Tracks like that show that he is indeed ready for the next step.

To be perfectly honest, this album really impressed me and Trey Songz is now one of my favorite artists.

Although he advertises a faulty claim and features short, transition tracks, which falter immensely, he is still in the process of creating a high-quality, classic R&B album.
