Critic Reviews
Show All-
All Music
Though the band is in top form (especially drummer B.J. Wilson) and despite a strong start (with the exquisite "Pandora's Box," a U.K. hit), the album largely runs out of steam by side two.

Only Solitaire
Even more pop, but with fewer memorable melodies and, well, kinda repetitive.

John McFerrin Music Reviews
this album can hardly be held anywhere near the standard of quality the band had established for itself for the last 7-odd years
-
J Hendrix 110
it is just not overly good
-
Real Gone
the bulk of ‘Procol’s Ninth’ is actually thoroughly enjoyable
-
Alltime Records
the only thing going for it is the innate appeal that the band's sound has always had for many listeners, but the material itself is a long, long way short of their best work

Chances are good you'll have fun too if you give it a spin. You might say this is the darker (as in more soulful) side of these usually pale boys.
