The young Atlanta rapper’s debut mixtape finds a cloudy and economical mood and stays there, but it’s Carti’s magnetic confidence that turns just enough into plenty.

It's light and breezy, like the sun on a summer day, and just like the sun on a summer day, it slots easily in the background as you focus on other things.

Overall, this is a disappointing release that is absurdly average. Playboi Carti should look at his formula and modify it to push himself to do more and do better.

I’d have to say it is a wild mix between 80’s techno, 808’s, and old Super Nintendo video game effects supported heavily with some catchy ad-libs.

It is nice to escape the seriousness of an album and just listen to some fun jams in the summer. This tape isn’t anything top-notch, but I am definitely looking forward to see what Carti is going to do next.

While I’ve never been a big fan or gone out of my way before Friday to listen to Carti, his debut project was definitely one of the Hip-Hop projects to keep an ear out for this year.

The track “New Choppa (feat. A$AP ROCKY)” is probably the best song on this project, mainly because of ROCKY, who shows his usual attitude, but anything is better than Playboi Carti on this album basically.

Nevertheless, the rapper delivers a debut opus indicative of his brand, where good vibes, an escape from reality and flexing can be found.
