Every time I listen to this album I just get angrier and angrier BAD
-
OO Cities
a significant comedown in quality that had me seriously doubting the band’s future. But the band would strongly answer the bell one last time.

Not that they give a shit.

Mark's Record Reviews
the band doesn't sound like a band anymore

Rolling Stone
1988 - the slow stuff is classy radio fare, and at its best, OU812 is a veritable feast of great white rock & roll wow
-
the final high quality output by the group overall
-
Sleaze Roxx
still good album with great musicians on it

All Music
the party tunes here -- and there are many -- are performed with a dogged, determined vibe ... the best showcase of the instrumental abilities of Van Hagar

I like OU812, a lot. It’s probably my favourite Van Hagar album and I’ve liked it since it came out.

Metal Reviews
While not anywhere near Van Halen’s greatest achievement, pop this sucker in, crack open the keg, omit Feels So Good and you should be having a damn good party going on.

Ear of Newt
1988 - Well, I know that it’s hard not to like a band that includes two stars like Eddie Van Halen and Sammy Hagar, but heck–I just know they can make way better albums than this.

These look more like the signatures of graffiti artists than record titles, but who cares. Slap the platter on the turntable and let’s rock. Van Halen makes perfect sense when the music is blaring.

Van Halen News Desk
I don't mind talking about it, a great record
-
Chris Gossett
this album screamed "summer", just as much as 5150. it was a perfect follow up.

BOR-ing. Masters of Rock? Maybe once, but no more.
-
Clearing Out the Clutter
2018 - The songs were dependable (if not generally that memorable) odes to women and partying.
