Other Voices
| The DoorsOther Voices
Other Voices is the seventh studio album by the Doors, released by Elektra Records in October 1971. It was the first album released by the band following the death of the lead singer Jim Morrison in July 1971 with keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger sharing lead vocals. Tracks for the album had begun before Morrison's death and the band hoped that Morrison would return from Paris to finish them. - Wikipedia

Another undeniable plus to Other Voices (1971) is that after being relegated as sidemen, each of the players is given an outlet for their songs and underutilized talents.

2014 - If anything, Other Voices is a close reminder of how much Jim Morrison's talent was missed.

2011 - There is some acceptable music here but the album pales when compared to any of their six classic studio releases.

2016 - In retrospect, regardless of the way Other Voices turned out, you really couldn’t blame the boys for trying.
-
Daily Vault
2007 - While Other Voices remains a passable attempt by Manzarek, Kreiger and Desmore to keep The Doors legacy alive, it sinks under the weight of expectations and the loss of the person who really made the band what it was.

2010 - Even if deep down inside I can't bring myself to refer to Other Voices as a true Doors album, I also can't deny that it's thirty-nine plus minutes of damned good music.

2015 - There’s no tangible sense of loss, no moments of sombre reflection, just a sense of wiping the slate clean and carrying on regardless
