Critic Reviews
Show All-
Pitchfork
2012 - the first sign that this unwavering focus may be getting swallowed up by the haze
-
Rolling Stone
Khalifa repents in full with an album as solid as Rolling Papers was slack
-
Consequence of Sound
2012 - Wiz doesn’t often come across as having much of a direction, but things like that are what make him strike as more lost than ever here.
-
The Washington Post
2012 - it’s a left-turn into unrelatability that the frequently underperforming “O.N.I.F.C.” can’t overcome
-
The Guardian
success seems to have dulled his considerable rapping talent
-
Hot New Hip hop
2012 - a solid project on the whole and is worth a purchase for Khalifa fans
-
XXL Magazine
2012 - an album that showcases his strongest material through more confidence and boasting
-
NME
2013 - This album offers little else besides airline advice
-
AV Music
2012 - And so on O.N.I.F.C. Khalifa splits the difference between his druggy muse and his pop obligations, without much interest in finding a middle ground.
-
Slant Magazine
2012 - a confirmed cameo artist still needs more than sturdy beats and a three-record contract to be interesting
-
Ratings Game Music
2012 - I wouldn’t say the album is a disappointment, but I will say if Wiz wants to be considered rap elite, he has to come harder than this.
-
Spectrum Culture
2012 - while O.N.I.F.C. is a smooth ride, it seldom leaves cruise control
-
Exclaim!
2012 - where the greats do their thing and then graduate, Khalifa thinks that attitude is "just" and, as with Ol' Dirty before him, a means to an end
-
The Talkhouse
2013 - It’s a conventionally bad rap record for a supposedly “out there” dude.
-
Mind Equals Blown
2012 - This album was his shot at redemption after the disappointment that was Rolling Papers and he didn’t take it.
-
Potholes in My Blog
2012 - Not only is it an incredibly boring album, it’s the most boring progression of Wiz’s surprisingly interesting career.
-
Hit the Floor Magazine
2013 - The main thing to take from this album is that Wiz Khalifa is consistent in his themes
-
Idolator
2012 - while hip-hop is moving to extremes — lyrically and musically — Wiz is forging a middle ground, leaving the navel-gazing or world-conquering or social-commenting to others
-
The Free Press
2012 - Each beat is progressive in it’s own way and the sheer myriad of style makes O.N.I.F.C one of the most well-produced albums of the year. Hands down.
-
Music is My Oxygen
2012 - All in all, O.N.I.F.C. is much improved over Rolling Papers, but it still falls just short of greatness.
-
University News
2013 - I recommend this if you are looking for a relaxing night, but also for a party playlist.
-
Pattonville Today
2013 - It is by far one of my favorites as this album is a mixture of rap and hip hop.
-
The Buffalo Music Blog
2012 - It’s just that O.N.I.F.C. is a shockingly unoriginal album by someone from whom I really expected something great.
-
The Scotsman
2012 - this is the sound of a rapper who has become far too comfortable with his situation
-
Nappy Afro
2012 - Overall, there were a few songs on O.N.I.F.C. that I liked, but most of them were very generic and forgettable and a few of them were terrible. The highlight of the album has to be the production, which was great on almost every song besides “Fall Asleep”.
-
Noho Arts District
2012 - if you are a fan of Wiz Khalifa you will appreciate this album and it will not let you down
-
Don't Believe Anything
2012 - O.N.I.F.C. carries less of the charm of hearing a big label newcomer on the mic
-
ONIFC Review
2012 - There were song good tunes but I feel like Wiz is trying to be something that he's not.
-
Hip-Hop Vibe
2012 - Most importantly, Wiz Khalifa has shown lyrical growth since the release of his last album.
-
Nostalgic Nuance
Wiz brings in some great features including The Weeknd, Akon, and 2 Chainz but even these tracks can’t legitimize the album as a must have.
-
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Well, there's nothin' much worth listening to here.
-
Las Vegas Weekly
2012 - But mostly there are dead moments. O.N.I.F.C. isn’t cohesive enough to be a singular unit, but it’s too predictably nonlinear to be considered randomly interesting.
-
Soul Culture
2013 - As an entire project O.N.I.F.C. is worthy of a purchase simply because it’s instrumentally stimulating and firing on all cylinders beat-wise.
-
Hip-Hop Sports Report
2012 - bout the only thing this project does definitively is it proves Wiz is still lost in his search for that balance.
-
In the Neutral Zone
2012 - I personally loved every song on this album. (Dedicated Wiz Khalifa fan)I think his flow is amazing, his beats are off the chain, and I love an artist who raps about what they love and how they feel in the moment.
-
Kick Ass Reviewer
2013 - Yet, listening to the powerful lyrics each song have affirm his niche: all angst no dance rap. No radio hit bullish*t.
-
Stash Everything
2012 - O.N.I.F.C. will only service you sonically insofar as select aspects of the production provide said suitable ambiance
-
Dead End Hip Hop
2012 - This album really blows.
-
The Vindicator
2012 - Problems aside, “O.N.I.F.C.’s” winning moments are so stunning they nearly override its sloth. Wiz’s duet with the Weeknd, “Remember You,” is moody, subtle, and teasingly romantic. “It’s Nothin’” (with 2Chainz) is vibrantly violent.
-
Pop Matters
2012 - beyond solid, full of immaculate production and airtight if simplistic rhymes about money, girls and weed. As background, travel or party music it's a pretty unflappable collection
-
All Music
lands somewhere between the growing pains of an artist forced to develop more quickly than he's ready to and material simply less inspired than the hungrier, more excited sounds that came before
-
Entertainment Weekly
2013 - Though O.N.I.F.C. scrimps on pop hooks, Wiz’s bleary-eyed charisma elevates both radio bait (”Got Everything”) and trippy shape-shifters (”No Limit”).
