Nobody's Daughter is the fourth and final studio album by American alternative rock band Hole, released worldwide on April 27, 2010, through Mercury Records. The album was originally conceived by Hole frontwoman Courtney Love as a solo project titled How Dirty Girls Get Clean, following her poorly received solo debut America's Sweetheart (2004). -Wikipedia

Nobody's Daughter ultimately feels like a badly missed opportunity.

She doesn’t have that power in her lungs anymore — barely a trace. But at least she remembers, and that means something in itself.

Everything on Nobody’s Daughter screams retro, but these are not your dainty table scraps or seemingly random leftovers from a decade long gone.

Nobody's Daughter is not the triumphant return Love so desired, but there's just enough Love performative here to enliven its weaker moments.

Daughter pretty much nails the Patti Smith-meets-Stevie Nicks rasp Love has long aimed for.

Like most Hole albums, Nobody’s Daughter has flashes of inspiration but is generally weighed down by inconsistency and too many songs that sound like they were phoned in.

Whether Courtney will ever artistically move beyond the increasingly tedious details of her soap-opera life remains debatable. And frankly, we all have more important things to debate.

It’s only when Love throws a pity party on a series of slow jams that sincerity eludes her. She made her bed. Now she’s gotta lie in it.

Love’s voice is gritty, angry, messy and right where it needs to be for most of the songs. It’s a bit hard to buy the moments where she appears to be tender, but for the most part it works.

Nobody’s Daughter is an album that proves Love’s music career can still have a bright future and that through all the drugs and family problems she may have, she can draw upon them to write songs that are expressive of her controversial personal thoughts.

Sure, it's too early to tell whether Love can build on her modest success and get a good third decade going. But swearing off f--king with herself will do for now.
