May not be the most entertaining listen from beginning to end, but anybody can relate to the strong message of love, loss and recovery that permeates the entire album.

The Script’s fourth effort turned out to be, maybe Will.I.Am would’ve been an improvement to the album. If you for some odd reason were considering to pick up a copy of this album just let that closing thought sink in for a minute.

‘No Sound Without Silence’ is an emotional and relaxing album possessing the typical sound of The Script. Something to listen to both by loyal fans of the band and people who are discovering them for the first time.

This batch of soft-as-mush pop-rock falls flat.

Fundamentally, fans of The Script will find themselves on familiar ground here, but for a band who actively experimented with their formula, there's a lingering feeling that No Sound Without Silence could have been a step forward, rather than two steps back.

While the album does not bring anything really new to The Script’s musical repertoire, it will scratch the itch of any fan looking for the band’s recognizable yet authentic melodies and poignant lyrics. It is certainly one of the most complete albums of 2014.

And while many lines may induce a cringe ('No Good In Goodbye'), their ear for a pop hook can't be denied.

Overall it feels as if the band just weren't that bothered. Danny O'Donoghue has a good voice, and the singing itself is pretty good, but the music is bland, and the lyrics generic, making the album as a whole disappointing.

Ultimately, No Sound Without a Silence is the sound of the Script rediscovering their roots. As O'Donoghue sings on "Hail Rain or Sunshine," "You may see this place and find no worth, but it's our little piece of Heaven here on Earth."

‘No Sound Without Silence’ is an album full of arena anthems, packed with soulful vocals, rock and pop sounds. If you liked the older The Script albums, you’ll be sure to love this one as much, if not more.

All in all, No Sound Without Silence has all the ingredients to conquer the world, without artifice, only with their authenticity. Music as an art.

Overall, despite not being as strong as their other work, No Sound Without Silence is still enjoyable. O'Donoughe's vocals shine and with the combination of the catchy and memorable melodies, make it a must-have for any fan.

No Sound Without Silence is clearly a newer sound that The Script is tackling, but if they keep at it and improve, great things can happen.

No Sound Without Silence is reminiscent of U2’s melodic pop-rock, with anthemic choruses, and pop-formula piano and guitar riffs. The Script list U2 as one of their major influences, so this is not surprising. Following the band’s vision for the album, the lyrics promote the importance of self-reflection and having purpose in life, encouraging listeners to achieve what they’ve “been fighting for”.

While, the album will definitely appeal to fans, it is a format that we have come to expect from The Script. It is more catered toward that live crowd and radio listeners than past albums, which featured more experimental and softer songs. The album is missing a key element from the past two releases: a collaboration with a hip hop artist.

The Script's fourth album offers the consistent sound that fans have loved, churning out another 11 catchy tracks, whilst experimenting with a new sound, though feels slightly truncated with all the pop rock chart stuff at the beginning and all the folksy anthemic tracks towards the end. Nonetheless, the album features powerfully addictive tracks.

I cannot help but also acknowledge their knack for a pop hook and an earworm chorus. But all this means for me is that The Script having nailed their sound and with super slick production can sound a bit samey to me.

The cringe moments come half way through with a couple of songs that may suit Cecilia Ahern if she runs short of music for her latest shamrock-eyed TV series for German TV.

  • Sound of Brit

No Sound Without Silence plunges into the most anecdotal anecdotal. The state of affairs is so predictable that the melodic and textual tribute to their Ireland is totally uninteresting, such as the rude hymn of Pain the Town Green or the hilarious feast of Hail Rain, or Sunshine .

Backed by the almost unfeasibly catchy lead single 'Superheroes', we think that this is the record that could propel the three Dublin lads to worldwide superstardom - and you couldn't say that it's not deserved.

Very clean comparing to their past works. The first song does mention that the singer’s life can be compared to a “hell.” Track number 10 mentions a “stoner” and number 11 mentions a “smoking break,” but aside from these brief areas of concern, this album is uncharacteristically clean.

So far, those restrictions have not been a blow to The Script, but the records are becoming a bit predictable. That doesn't mean that No Sound Without Silence is bad, but it could just as well have been called # 4 .

A deep and powerful connection that drifts into the soul and can either drift out or remain well past the time when the song is heard. It is only through silence that this sound can be achieved and as far as The Script’s new album is concerned, I think they should be provided with as much silence as they can be granted, so they can continue to fill that silence with tremendous sound.

So for all the accusations of being formulaic, not only is ‘No Sound Without Silence’ as far away from such a description as possible, it manages to be by far and above their best album to date. Long may The Script continue to have the last laugh over Alexis Petridis et al.

There are no fresh ideas introduced and they miles well have called it “Uninspired But We Had To Put An Album Out”. They are a talented band who simply need a break to have new experiences to inspire them because at the moment they seem as dry as the desert.
