it stands toe to toe with a lot of their earlier, stronger and classic material

While the band has undoubtedly been the soundtrack to many folks' skateboarding escapades, for myself the ultimate litmus test isn't whether it'd play while one ollies, but whether it'd play while one jumps on a trampoline, and in that regard Never Gonna Die is a success.

  • Punk Rock Theory

Fast, sturdy rhythms peppered with Fletcher’s trademark chunky riffs and then Jim’s characteristic vocals on top of it all. It’s a tried-and-true formula, but it still works.

  • Renowned for Sound

The governments may suck, but Pennywise are channelling their disdain into something many people will be able to relate to on multiple levels. Whilst the genre isn’t the most accessible, the messages and the ideas certainly are. Twelve records in and Pennywise may have just released their most relevant project yet.

Pennywise offer up a myriad of reasons to put one foot forward and trudge onward, not the least of which is being able to rock out to this new collection. Motivated, inspired and ready to crowd-surf

Being a punk rock fan, this album brings all the nostalgic audio quality you would have heard right through the nineties and earlies naughties, along with a growth inspired only through experience. This is a fantastic punk rock album.

The message of ‘Never Gonna Die’ is for resistance, for activism, for passionate people’s belief’s, for justice, for hope, and for Pennywise’s own ethos and work ethic to do just that: live on for as long as possible, forever fighting the good fight.

PW has always been lyrically strong and Never Gonna Die is no different. Jim’s voice is strong, Fletcher’s riffs are tight and I don’t know how he does it, but Bryon’s drumming is off the chart, soooo fast!!

The formula is pretty standard but credit to the band for still sounding powerful after nearly 30 years. Long-time fans will really enjoy Never Gonna Die even if it is unlikely to win them many new fans.

Their style is still what you’d expect– fast, hard, and unapologetic. It’s punk rock in its rawest form and yet the lyrics still manage to make the listener stop and think.

Thankfully “Never Gonna Die” is not only an excellent addition to their back-catalogue I’d go out on a limb and say it’s possibly their finest release since 1999’s Straight Ahead.

His voice sounds great, lyrics are politically charged as they have always been and the choruses are catchy like Pennywise is known for.

Most of the songs here are short, punchy and powerful from start to finish; with such high stakes, there’s no room for the dull or the pedestrian on this record.
