Nebraska
| Bruce SpringsteenNebraska
Nebraska is the sixth studio album by Bruce Springsteen. The album was released on September 30, 1982, by Columbia Records. Sparsely recorded on a 4-track cassette tape Portastudio 144, the songs on Nebraska were originally intended as demos of songs to be recorded with the E Street Band. However, Springsteen ultimately decided to release the demos himself. Nebraska remains one of the most highly regarded albums in his catalog. -wikipedia

Pitchfork
It’s an essential record in the history of home recording, but it was sort of a cul-de-sac for Springsteen himself.
-
Rolling Stone
If this record is as deep and unsettling as anything Springsteen has recorded, it is also his narrowest and most single-minded work.

Nebraska is a beautiful anomaly, a willful turn from '80's The River, which cemented Springsteen as a household name, and a passionate last grasp at Guthrie-style folk before the musical monolith that would be '84's Born in the USA

AV Music
Though Springsteen's songs lend themselves easily to new interpretations, covering the album as a whole only serves as a reminder of how well the original worked, and how well it hung together as a piece.
-

Nebraska is raw, primitive, ancient, other worldly, spiritual, nihilistic, heartbreaking and horrifying. And it was made, don’t forget, by someone who was regarded as a rock’n’roll messiah.

While strange at first, his audiences soon revered this as a one of a kind classic.
