Pop Matters
There's nothing he can't do, but as far as a document of growth and achievement, with a few festive surprised tucked in, it's a fabulous gift.
-
All Music
In essence, the box is an argument for Joel's statement that his hits do not represent his work accurately.
-
One Final Serenade
A few things are missing from My Lives, but otherwise My Lives fills a big gap in the releases of Billy's recordings.
-
Rock N World
Before, in between and after the gossip, the man just happened to produce an incredible, diverse body of work that has become so much a part of the American psyche that this set could rightfully call itself Our Lives.

Daily Vault
One thing is for certain; I heard sides of Billy Joel I had not heard before. There is some outstanding material to be found on My Lives, but not enough of it. That is what hurts this set in the long run; Joel's lack of good work as his career wound down.
