Mud On The Tires

Mud on the Tires is the third studio album by American country musicartist Brad Paisley. Released in 2003 on Arista Nashville, it produced four hit singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts: the Top Five hits "Celebrity", "Little Moments" and "Whiskey Lullaby", as well as the Number One title track. The album itself has been certified 2 Platinum by the RIAA, while "Whiskey Lullaby" and the title-track have been certified as gold singles.

    It's not that it's a bad album, because it isn't. Far from it, actually -- it's a really good record, boasting a set of songs that are arguably his most consistent and illustrating Paisley's capable grasp on a wide variety of styles and sounds, from honky tonk and Western swing to plaintive bluegrass, country-folk, and even country-pop novelties.

  • My Kind of Country

    Frank Rogers did his usual great job with the production, and musically this all sounds fantastic – inventive yet genuinely rooted in country. But while this record has some great tracks (and is well worth getting hold of), there are also the first signs of a softening of Brad’s artistic vision with the arrival of domestic happiness.

    Paisley continues to show growth and depth of commitment to country. Jackson did that a number of years ago, and he's no flavor-of-the-month. That Paisley is well on his way to occupying the same turf is no small compliment.

    Most importantly, his songs are full of humor that doesn't descend into hee-haw jokiness. He uses a gently mocking touch to highlight the simple truths about life and love, gaining a fresh, distinctive perspective in the process
