Critic Reviews
Show All-
Rolling Stone
His worst enemy is still his own voice, an agitated whimper that makes even tender lines sound strangely like complaints.
-
The Guardian
His fourth album is Blunt at his Bluntest: it's not so easy to leave your comfort zone, and the music stays within familiar soft-rock parameters.
-
Sputnik Music
Indeed, while the album is essentially an identity crisis, it is still very much a pleasant listen, albeit strictly for dumb fun.
-
The Independent
It's not the producer who needs changing; it's Blunt's own approach, which is increasingly threadbare – especially that little fluttery vocal tic that afflicts this album like a rash.
-
Music OMH
He sounds of a man with his testicles being slowly squeezed by a vice, to others something far more horrific.
-
Time Out
All in all, there’s no denying Blunt can craft a decent melody, and ‘Moon Landing’ isn’t a bad album really. It’s just much less fun than his Twitter feed.
-
Red
If you haven't heard it yet, trust us, it's a keeper.
-
LA Times
He might as well leave a 24-pack of toilet paper on his front lawn on Halloween with a sign reading "Have at It, Guys."
-
All Music
Blunt's richest and best collection to date.
-
Renowned for Sound
Moon Landing shows a more mature Blunt who is willing to take risks to get back to the top of the charts again.
-
The Up Coming
Melodic, easy-going yet meditative, Moon Landing is James Blunt’s most personal album.
-
The Scotsman
Moon Landing, titled for its association with nostalgic memories, sounds pretty damn varnished and only a step on from previous albums in that it blandly hitches its wagon to some proven chartbound sounds.
-
Jacaranda fm
It’s actually pretty darn good.
-
Bounce Sin
James Blunt has a punchable singing voice because it is just too unbearably annoying.
-
Digital Spy
The star reminds us that he's not as bad as people say he is.
-
Hit The Floor
His work on this album has allowed him to create a wonderful pop product, proving his time is not up yet.
-
Billboard
Blunt’s latest work has him feeling fulfilled.
-
El Broide
James’ voice isn’t for everyone and on some tracks, it’s painful.
-
God Is In The TV
Bummer album of the week.
-
Love is Pop
Blunt might not reinvent the wheel here, but he’s clearly at the top of his game and it turns out he can make some f*cking beautiful songs.
-
Nick Pollard
Moon Landing is undoubtedly pleasant, but a textbook example of piano-fronted indie-pop lead by a man who we can only wish will settle with a partner, and write about something else.
-
San Francisco Gate
The first single, "Bonfire Heart," could put him back on the radio, but the rest rarely makes for engaging listening, especially with a voice that sounds as if it has grown thinner with the passage of time.
-
others
It makes me wonder whether it may be time for James to hang up the microphone.
-
Alternative Addiction
James Blunt’s Moon Landing is ordinary.
-
Metro
James Blunt’s fourth album deploys some surprisingly violent military metaphors.
-
Reliable Reviews
James Blunt returns his blissful voice to our ears once again with his new album Moon Landing.
-
The Mic
Each song is an example of how Blunt’s skill has matured over the last three years.
-
Laut
Lovely chords and an organ.
-
Brent Music Reviews
I feel that while he has remained consistent, and he hasn’t ascended to the next level. /5

Integrated Alliance
James Blunt Moon Landing is a terrific piece of work and it too is led by an instant classic, “Miss America”, a tribute to the late, great Whitney Houston.
