Unhurried and simply affecting.

Herald Standard
Johnson’s latest effort serves as a welcome reminder about the importance of appreciating the outer beauty provided by nature and the inner beauty we all possess.

Other parts of Meet the Moonlight also have readily apparent textures -- "3AM Radio" gurgles softly, "Don't Look Now" almost has an urgency to its chorus -- but the Mills approach lets such spare numbers as the closing "Any Wonder" feel full and realized, and not like sketches. These subtle shifts and shadings help make Meet the Moonlight a quietly adventurous album as well as one of Jack Johnson's best.

The album wraps up with “Any Wonder,” a powerful ballad that builds throughout. Johnson’s vocals are gentle yet firm. It’s a sweet note to end on, as the song feels like a warm hug and is sure to leave listeners feeling comforted. Jack Johnson has a very nostalgic, recognizable voice, and this album feels comforting more than anything else. His relaxing and well-polished music (as well as the rest of his discography) makes his work pleasant to revisit.

Gigwise
Despite its welcoming and optimistic nature, there is a tendency in the record to play it safe. Although having two Grammys to his name, John finds real experimentation a foreign concept. Fragments of the second half of the album are sluggish. With such an ear for melody and noteworthy pop, one longs for him to try his hand at something wildly different. Still, until then, most of Meet The Moonlight is charmingly sweet. Ticking the boxes of what has made previous Jack Johnson albums sell, it achieves what it sets out to do and will please fans seeking the comfort of dreamy Hawaiin life.
