Love and Life
| Mary J. BligeLove and Life
Love & Life is the sixth studio album by American R&B recording artist Mary J. Blige. It was released by Geffen Recordson August 26, 2003. The album marked Blige's debut on the Geffen label, following the absorption of her former record company MCA Records. In addition, it saw her reuniting with Sean "Diddy" Combs, executive producer of her first two studio albums What's the 411 (1992) and My Life (1994), who wrote and executive produced most of Love & Life with his Bad Boy in-house production team The Hitmen, including Mario Winans, D-Dot, and Stevie J. -Wikipedia
Critic Reviews

BBC
Possibly a better album than the ground-breaking, Whats the 411.
-
All Music
Blige remains a durable and consistent artist, and no one is on the verge of dethroning her.
-
Slant Magazine
Of course, this raw, modern interpretation of the blues is what has made Mary one of the greatest soul singers of her generation.
-
Revoly
Much of the negative commentary specifically pinned the blame on the new optimistic love themes that Blige clamored in new scores.
-
Wilson and Alroy
There's no thematic consistency or coherence to this collection, just a bunch of songs
-
Pop Matters
The songbird whose sullen sound addressed the darkest emotions of fans has settled into a new, yet unfamiliar light that is reflected by the beauty of love and life.
-
RTE
Even for a non-believer it's hard to find much fault with this one.
-
Soul in Stereo
There were a few decent songs here, they were just lost in a sea of endless interludes and mostly bland singles.
-
Slacker
Blige remains a durable and consistent artist, and no one is on the verge of dethroning her.
-
The Gaurdian
Songs ramble aimlessly, backing singers cover tracks in fluff and Mary just about yawns her way through the whole enterprise.
-
Rolling Stone
You may not always love Blige’s music, but you will feel her.
