The Portland rapper is more existential than ever on his sophomore record.

On his new album, the Portland rapper rediscovers the appealing lightness that made him famous.

Overall, the innovative artiste has laid out several personal notes of his innermost feelings and his views on his rising fame while thematically underlining the LP from its 'Limbo' standpoint. The new record feels like it plays with the audience perspective rather than pushing a particular message or throughline. 'Limbo' is what it wants to be without fronting and without showcasing excessive amounts of hip-hop stardom perks and we highly recommend you listen to it.

All in all, this is a very mature project in that is leaps and bounds better than the average pop rap album. While there are a few weaker tracks toward the end of the project, this was a winning effort as a whole. The charmingly fun, versatile and bouncy sound on Limbo has paid off this time around, making it one of the better rap albums to come out in 2020.

Overall, Limbo still remains true to who Aminé is when he debuted, just a mature version. He is still the same happy-go-lucky artist when he was singing about that bad thing named Caroline. While focusing on this unsure transition into adulthood, he is still able to punch out clever flows with witty bars on pop culture references. They have a good balance of having fun, finding love and adulting that many young people navigating life right now can relate to.

On "Limbo", hip-hop's most charismatic goofball exhibits authority on the mic while maintaining the charm that made him so endearing to begin with.

'Limbo' is certainly not a representation of his best work, but rather an example of a talented artist not pushing his boundaries.

the entire album is just that – blandly satisfying and lacking a wow factor. Aminé delivers silky vocals, pleasing instrumentals and a consistent flow, but unfortunately still falls short in terms of putting forward a coherent body of work.

Aminé does not get nearly enough credit for being an outstanding artist. I think he is a fantastic rapper, a pretty solid singer, and a great song-maker. On Limbo, the Portland rapper blesses us with hits, hits, and more hits!

You can really tell that Aminé has taken a lot of inspiration from his fellow peers and idols throughout the world of hip-hop whilst creating Limbo. It is a melting pot of sounds and impossible to be bored when listening through. There is not one dislikeable song at any point which is quite obviously the sign of a great record.

This album is exceptional and extremely versatile. There’s a mix of songs about growing up, love songs, hard hitting rap verses, and a commemoration to his mother as well as how the death of Kobe Bryant affected him.

Limbo, is a beautiful mixture of fun summer hits and introspective emotivity. The subject matter of his music has experienced a new level of maturity and deep reflection since his ONEPOINTFIVE project. This project is an exciting forward direction for him and a hopefully impactful moment for the direction of the rest of hip-hop.

I have to say this album did give me more than what I was expecting. While I wasn’t on board with most of the relationship tracks, everything else just floored me on how much Amine improved from his debut with a broader beat selection, interesting content, good use of features, and it makes for a solid follow-up.

Despite its shortcomings in some areas, Aminé’s sophomore album is fun, exciting, versatile and offers more of what made him click in the first place.

There’s no telling where Amine can go from here and that excites me. If he takes his time on another project as well structured and polished as “Limbo” I think he’ll (ironically) only go up. Either way, I’ll anticipate hearing from him again.

Amine stepped it up on every level with this album. He has vastly improved as a singer and rapper while his ear for beats and features is coming along as well.

Limbo is an example of a rapper improving on all of his skills that already made him great. If you have been a fan of Aminè’s in the past, I guarantee you will find a lot to love on Limbo. Aminè is a great artist who just keeps getting better, and this record is a really good example of that fact.

I am definitely impressed at how much Aminé grew up since his first album. While there are several playful tracks on here, there are tracks where you can see that he has shown so much growth and maturity. We will see if he continues to ride out the success to improve his craft in the near future.

this Aminé project is a great album with a whole range of styles and focuses. His melodies are catchy, production great and delivery spot on - and this has some of my favourite songs from the year on.
