Chasing hits and fighting against his own strengths prevent Trippie Redd’s debut album from having a seismic impact.

Underground HipHop Blog
. . . I was pleasantly surprised with how it actually turned out. The production is a lot more refined than it’s been in the past & when it comes to the execution & delivery, I truly feel like Trippie is at his most passionate on here.
-
Guestlist
. . . overall the album is an exquisite showcase of his artistry. From the candid elegies for his deceased brother, to his emphatic rapport with Young Thug on “Forever Ever”, Trippie has produced a wild ride to savour, and left us all waiting in fervent anticipation for the next trip.

Trippie Redd’s ‘Life’s a Trip’ Album Is Morbid, Indulgent and Thankfully Rewarding
-
Thirstkey
Overall, I feel like this album fluctuates a lot throughout it’s run-time and I’d completely understand if someone said the payoff wasn’t worth it. I have a hard time disagreeing when I’m only gonna replay two tracks out of 14.
-
Hot New HIp Hop
On his debut album, Trippie Redd proves his versatility, but often strays away from his strengths.
-
REVOLT
There's a lot to unpack about Life's A Trip that makes it his best album, by far.
-
Focus Hip Hop
To me, there weren’t really any aspects of this album that were consistently good. . . . Overall, this is a pretty wack album to me. I’m not feelin’ it.

Ratings Game Music
I think “Life Is A Trip” was a success. It was refreshingly experimental, and I thought it had some legit bangers.
-
ROCK ON PHILLY
. . . Life’s A Trip is original, emotional and genre bending. With Trippie preferring to sing his pain in melody rather than rapid fire raps.
-
Immortal Reviews
Trippie Redd tries to be a rockstar in Life's A Trip, but doesn't realize his jarring voice and affinity for drugs doesn't quite serve him the title. Trippie Redd tries to be a rockstar in Life's A Trip but instead comes off as a wannabe . . . .

Mic Cheque
Trippie Redd touches many bases but isn’t able to string together a home run.
-
K-UTE Radio
This album deserves the attention of hip hop fans everywhere. It may not be for everyone, but it is absolutely a quality album that I think will age well. Trippie Redd delivered a solid debut album that was exactly what I was looking for, save a few minor things.
-
Ben's Beat
Steadily becoming one of the leaders rising to the top of the new class of alternative rock and pop punk-influenced emo rap artists, Trippie Redd’s debut studio album is a melancholy, raw project framed by Redd’s unique, strained and distressed vocal delivery.
-
UPROXX
As his debut, Life’s A Trip provides the opportunity for him to truly distinguish him and define himself as an artist, justifying the buzz and potentially ingratiating himself with a broader fanbase that may be less familiar with his mixtape work.
-
THE MEDIZINE
After listening to it several times, the conclusion is clear: the album is Trippie Redd in its purest form. Its ability to make symbiosis with autotune is majestic.
-
The Current
On Life's A Trip, Trippie Redd moves even further into singer-songwriter mode with heavy rock influences. . . . . The album is sure to be pumping out of car speakers for the rest of the summer.
-
LATE NIGHT STEREO
Trippie continues branching out on Life’s A Trip, his debut album, and while his experimentation produces some definite highs, it also waters down what seemed like a promising formula a year ago.

Allaussie Hip Hop
All in all we were quite surprised by Life’s A Trip. It’s not something we’d normally seek out but still found it quite enjoyable. We look forward to seeing where Trippie Redd can evolve to over the next few years as he matures and further develops his sound.

The Fordham Ram
The result is an experience that’s on par with the best trap has provided yet, a motley crew of cuts capturing enigmatic emotions and building upon sounds influenced by many disparate genres, yet linked into a cohesive collection by one narrator, Trippie.

The Pop Topic
In the SoundCloud era of rap, fame comes quickly. Trippie Redd, after a string of successful mixtapes, has finally released his debut album, Life’s A Trip. The young, Ohioan MC shows promise and versatility.
-
Spilled Beans
Overall I think that this is a very promising first album for Trippie Redd, and one that I really enjoy.
-
Devmatic: Focused
Trippie Redd just dropped his debut album “Life’s a Trip” and it is a complete vibe! From the time that you start Together and end with Underwater FlyZone the album stays sonically in-tune whether it is a more melodic song with Trippie singing or a hardcore banger like Dark Knight Dummo.
-
Apple Music
The Ohio rapper is openly reflective of the hurdles his generation faces—the allure of drug use, the pain of young love, the yearning for social currency—but the album is ultimately an affirmation of his perseverance, and shows his musical whims stretch beyond rap.
-
Mini Music Critic
Although Life’s A Trip may be devoid of any radio hits other than “Dark Side Gummo,” it’s a concise and worthwhile journey through the teenage emotions and unconventional mind of Trippie Redd.

Matt's Music Reviews
. . . I think he’s got a distinct and rather interesting style, and there are several moments on the album where he embraces what makes him special and creates something really good. I do think there are some very real flaws with the album: he’s still a bit all-over-the-place lyrically, his vocals can be inconsistent . . . and, for that matter, the album as a whole is rather inconsistent.
-
The Fox and King
As one of the most polarizing and versatile young artists to ascend from the cloud/trap genre, Trippie Redd’s debut album excels in both sound, storytelling and lyricism. The record strips away at the Ohio emcees most emotional undertones, which reconciles his strength, empathy and self-preservation.
-
The Music
So whatever we call Life's A Trip, it's well worth your time. What Redd has managed to achieve in an incredibly short time (he turned 19 this year) is to take his place in the evolution of the form, challenging what we once thought music was all about.
-
Fick - Medium
Trippie is really starting to find his sound and use it well. Still, there was a lot of filler on this project and repetition but the highlights were good enough to make it passable.

Ardy Reviews
“Life’s A Trip” is one of the worst debut albums I’ve ever heard, and it might be the worst project of this year so far. The album felt like a chore to get through and it was hard to deal with. I just gave the album one and a half vinyls.
-
Living Life Fearless
Like most of these newer artists out these days he tries to take a more genre-less approach to his music, taking a little something from numerous genres – particularly the more emo phase of rock. Those moments are some of my least favorite moments on the project though as he comes off as more whiny than anything, but there is some genuinely compelling stuff here that shows there’s more to him than meets the eye.
-
The Ear Review
This is Trippie Redd’s most versatile body of work and the most impressive album I have reviewed thus far. . . . Overall, beat selection, cadence selection and feature selection were all great for this album.

"Life's A Trip" is above all lazy, delivers exactly what the fan base expects and does not even try to change the formula to attract new listeners. Everything is fair and understandable, but I'm out first.
