Level

They released Level on Carnival Records on April 5th, 2005, and opened shows for Miranda Lambert. “Level” is known as their last Texas Country album before becoming a Nashville act. Many of these songs can still be heard in their live show today, such as “Small Town Kid”.-Wikipedia

Level has drawn comparisons to The Jayhawks in the plaintive "When It Rains". The band members, all in their early 20s, have proven to be adept at blending their musical influences into a cohesive sound on this effort.- Wikipedia

Originally issued in 2005, LEVEL is EYB’s second full-length outing, and it features twangy-yet-pop-savvy tunes such as “Small Town Kid” and “Oklahoma Girl.”

An above average album that may have recieved more credit than deserved. I liked half of the songs and have them on my Ipod. Some of the other are garbage and some are average. Overall good album though, enjoyed it.

All roads lead to Nashville for up and comers, The Eli Young Band, and their new release "Level." Hailing from Texas, this talented group of musicians, singers, and songwriters possesses everything CMT appears to adore: hooky songs, lots of guitar, a fresh and bouncy groove, and more than a touch of country. There’s nothing too retro, though, which, again, should make The Eli Young Band regulars on country music’s foremost TV outlet soon enough, . . . .

"Level" by the Eli Young Band is probably the biggest shocker in the two year existence of Country Music Online. You may wonder why this album is such a shocker but not even knowing one thing about the Eli Young Band and finding such an impressive album says it all. It's not very often that artists are able to capture a variety of different genres in their sound and style, but the Eli Young Band easily displays their own twist of country and rock.
